I love this game, always have but there's two things that makes this version the best version.

 

The first is the detail in all the objects. It seems like a good number of them have little hidden details. Like the music and the roar of the Godzilla. Or the washing machine that goes through a full cycle. Or how tapping the side of a container with a mitten crab inside makes the crab raise his claws.

 

And then there's the online aspect. Once you have a good list of friends set up visiting their islands and trading with them just puts it leagues above the earlier iterations I've played. I love how everyone has access to the same tools but every island is so unique!

 

Game of the year for sure.

This is my first Animals Crossing so this might be a stupid question, but does Nintendo ever add shops or buildings in the seasonal updates/events?  I know they added the art gallery already, but that's still in the museum, I'm just wondering if you ever need to leave some space the future additions when planning the island?

Rumoured to  be getting the coffee shop at some point. Hopefully as a separate building and not just part of museum. 

 

There's plenty of buildings that have been in old games that could potentially (hopefully) be added to this; Dream Suite, Post Office, Police Station, Gracie's shop, Club LOL, Re-Tail, Resetti's Surveillance Centre, Shampoodle, Kicks, Gardening shop and Observatory.

Couple of questions please. Firstly, my islanders periodically give me stuff to help with encouraging KK Slider to visit. Is it absolutely necessary to place that stuff down, as some of it is a bit naff?

 

Also, could someone tell me if I'm missing any diners pieces? I have the bench, large table, small table and the island with one rounded end. I'm assuming there are some more bits and pieces? Cheers

There's a large square table, smaller circular table and the counter. There's a stool type chair and a 'proper' chair plus a sofa. There's a wall, a clock and a Neon sign. 

 

The furniture is apparently in multiple colours but I've only got pieces in red and cream.

Gates are open to friends, but I'll be AFK. Four recipes if you want to trade up by the Nook's (2 x Log Garden Lounge, Golden Dishes, Shell Table), Daisy Mae is still here for an hour or so too if you've missed out (SW corner, 104).

Is it my dodgy memory or is it a lot easier to get the gold trophy this time around?  Am sure in New Leaf I had to specifically collect sets and do most of my rooms all nicely to get it but this time I barely had to do any of that and have been S ranked for ages already.  Seemed way too easy

@SteveH I have diner furniture in red, yellow, black, pink, cream and aquamarine.  Don't have a full set in any of them though

I don't think so. Placing 'stuff' on your island is necessary to get KK to visit, and every item probably has a different value that it contributes to your island rating, but I'm pretty sure the specific items islanders give you are not significant for your island rating.  They're almost certainly chosen at random, and probably just intended to nudge you towards placing more decorative items around the place.

Thanks. To be honest I'm still really lazy with my island. I don't even have a full quota of islanders yet!

Well I just arrived but trying to separate my 4 year old from the baby made me hit the minus button and I just left! 
 

Coming back now. They really need a confirmation when you press that!
