So I came across Rodney on a Nook Mile island and was horrified so trapped him there and put out his fire:

Anyway, turns out there’s a subreddit dedicated to how much people hate him called r/fuckrodney

Just realised I've had Redd all day, he only had 1 real piece of art out of 4, and I got my gf to come buy me the fake Girl with a Starry Earring, but there's still a fake Solemn Painting and a fake Informative Statue of anyone wants either for their house/island? I'm open to friends, my code is in the spreadsheet. I assume he's here till 5? (I won't be online till 5 lol)

Nope. I've seen two real, two fake. I think it can be many variations.

Pietro fans rejoice! You are not alone.

https://www.polygon.com/2020/5/5/21247852/animal-crossing-new-horizons-pietro-clown-sheep-villager-acnh-nintendo-switch-fandom?

Perhaps it’s not surprising to hear, then, that many folks I interviewed who believe in the power of Pietro didn’t start out that way. Many of them, like Katie, received Pietro as their first campsite villager. New Horizons forces players to accept initial campers onto their population no matter what, and while you can go on to kick these animals out, you still have to let them roam about for at least a few days. And once you get to know the clown, it turns out that he’s not nearly as bad as the memes make him out to be.

“It went from ‘who is this awful gaudy clown in my town’ to ‘oh no, I love him,’” Ben, who was initially unhappy to be saddled with Pietro, tells Polygon.

But the negative stigma has also helped pump some lifeblood into a broader Pietro reclamation effort, where fans embrace the flashy clown as visibly as possible. One player I spoke to, Callie, says she spent 2 million bells, in addition to some Nook Miles tickets, to purchase Pietro. And once Pietro is on an island, many fans go on to build him shrines or dedicated areas.

That is a really well made video.

Also, it all makes so much sense and I hope Nintendo take notice. Which they won't as they are Neintendo.

Streamlining Animal Crossing goes against the whole ethos of the thing IMO. I've driven myself mad trying to find the quote (from ~2005!) but even the control scheme is purposefully a bit fussy to give the game an actual texture. Maybe that's just me - the whole race to unlock/optimise everything as the dominant way to play the game the first month of its existence makes me uncomfortable. It's not an F2P cookie clicker or Fortnite, you're not meant to hoover up all of the content in the game in anticipation of next month's new Season Pass additions.

I worry people are going to burn it out and start complaining in about 3 weeks when they realise there's not a steady stream of new fossils to spend V-bucks on and this is basically it.

So much this. Nintendo knows how to make efficient UI. They've very much chosen not to because it is meant to be a dip in and out game.

If you made this game fast and quick to play, the actual motivation to do so would dry up really quickly.

FFS!

Its too early in the morning!!

I got stung too.

As much as I would love to see some of those updates in the game, I agree that it would contribute to a more rushed play style for some, and this is not what the game is about - at least for me.

I would love the 'Sort' pockets, and 'Craft using storage items' though.

To be fair, it's made to look exactly like a Nintendo video and they've done a remarkable job with it.

It is but now I’m playing again and feel depressed now.

Its a great game but maybe the worse UI in any premium game I’ve played.

Its like playing a next gen game from the NES era

I'm not thinking about repetition so much as pace. This is game that was meant to be played for about 15-30 min a day over a period of years. When you start to take out the things that force you to spend a day on fishing, or on fossil hunting, rather than zipping around the island spinning plates on everything at once, I wonder if you've still got Animal Crossing.

IDK maybe I'm just becoming a middle aged fart complaining about kids these days not having the attention span for a real game with their mobile phones and farming Exotic Destiny dab emote drops.
