For many it's easy with Amiibo cards (or fake ones). But Raymond is bed so there is no card. Therefore its rarer.

I read at least once every 2 weeks somewhere. But can be more frequent (as like all villagers it's random).

The new animals (Raymond is most popular, but Audie is the secret best one), can’t be acquired by amiibo cards, so the only way to get them is to visit hundreds of islands or get one of them from someone else’s village. That’s why they’re commanding the highest prices. The next most popular are the ones that have always been popular from previous games, whose amiibo cards were already valuable.

 

The issue with the island visits is that you need a free space of your island, as you also do for getting them from other people. The only ways to replace people from a full island is to have a visitor at the camp site, who if they like you will randomly try to force out one of your villagers, or using amino cards, which let you choose who to replace.

It’s not the game’s system though, it’s a game exploit. I don’t think Nintendo should be using every opportunity to lay out clearly how everyone should min/max every single thing in this game. It’ll become a miserable experience for everyone. Sometimes the joy comes for the randomness and discovery.

I've done this a few times. Had to dump all my stuff on a field and let my friends.come by to catalog and take before selling it all. Got rid of nearly 500 items!

I have about 100 wasps I was saving for Flick, I guess I could sell those... as for everything else.. what if I suddenly need 7 gothic mirrors at 3am?

This game's systems are so poorly explained in the game itself. And I get that part of it is discovery and randomness, but 99% of the time trying random stuff will result in nothing happening, and yet there are these very specific set of actions you need to perform to control important aspects of the game.

I don't agree with this, not everything should be explained so that it can be exploited and min/maxed.  The joy is when stuff does happen like a dino you can interact with, an item that when placed is not just like a regular one etc

Really important stuff like expanding your house is explained and Nook even has a "what should I do" conversation choice

LoL.  I hit 1600 last week and since then have binned loads of stuff like dupes, clothes and items I will never use, non-Sahara floors and walls, dino parts that I have multiple copies off, clay (bloody clay!) etc.

Still pretty much always in the ballpark of 1500 though so hope they do expand it further at some point as with further seasonal and event items I'm going to struggle
