I have had this type of thing on Xbox live with parties but not on switch. It's frustrating as shit because as far as I know there's no sure fix. It also shuts the gates and disconnects me completely.

That's very kind but i think I might need a lot. Or hedges but no idea how to get those!

Have you had Leif visit yet? If so, you should have a specific challenge to plant 3 shrubs. When you've done that, speak to Nook and he'll give you the hedge recipe.

You have to invite them 3 times and complete their request each time.  Not sure if you have to also ask them to stay on the island on all 3 of the visits but I always do and you certainly have to ask them on the third visit.  I've brought 4 villagers to my island this way.

If you have a spare, I am in desperate need of the following to complete my garden.

 

purple windflower,

purple pansy,

purple hyacinth, 

green mums

black cosmo

I can give you a purple pansy as I have a few now.  If its not too cheeky an ask could I get a construction sign in return (a nook miles item) I think I remember that yours is different to mine.  Mine looks like:

I actually only have purple windflower from that list. Once I've cloned enough and relayed my watering friends I'll offer up what I can.

Following on from your post yesterday I spent a few hours last night and 7 or 8 spades and re-did all my flowers into the new patterns.  Still got a few to do but observations so far:

  • Seems to take up a bit less space than the old diamond formations
  • Easier to run through as you naturally get a vertical or horizontal path with it
  • Much, much quicker and easier to water :)
  • I got a good amount of spawns this morning and there were a decent amount of "what I wanted" in it.  Hard to tell for sure if it was more/ less, better/ worse than the old way but I think it was a positive boost
  • I didn't do it in a colour coordinated way (too much effort) but I like the ramshackle look of it

I've not really seen any furniture 'sets' so far, other than the ones I can craft.  I seem to remember buying matching furniture being a big part of the game in earlier versions (played them all except New Leaf).  I guess there are so many items in the game now that I've just not seen enough things in the random selection I get in the shop to get multiple items from matching sets yet.
