I just got back from @Alan Stock 's island. Very nicely decorated, would recommend! I love the upstairs decorated to look like the outside. Nice bathroom too! Thanks for the fossils, wallpaper recipe, and Biff's recipe (yet another gym meathead??)! Btw, I didn't drop the 100 bells where the recipe was, that fell out of the tree because I accidentally shook it when trying to pick up the recipe.

Is there any way I can check which fossils I don’t have? The entire fossil area seems pretty much complete to me, but on one of the dinosaurs it says «please donate missing parts», it might be the head of Ankysomething. There also seems to be a small empty space just next to door that leads into the back room but I have no idea if anything is supposed to go on there at all.

Got a blob of amber yet?

This has probably been asked a dozen times today, but I've installed the update yet haven't got either Leif or Redd in my island. Blathers has told me that the museum has been expanded, but I can't find another wing or anything. Is it just random if they show up?

As far as anyone knows yes. My assumption is because I got the update after the 5am reset I didn't get Leif and Redd.

Aha. I thought it was just because Kicks was squatting in Leif's place that they didn't appear, but you're right, there's more stuff in this update that hasn't appeared. I got my update around 2pm.

Can someone explain how the whole Amiibo/cards things work. I know they're almost impossible to get hold of, but I'd like to take some photos with my villagers, but it seems like I can't do that. Am I missing something?

You need a certain someone to visit your island and no you don't need amibos to do that. What triggers the visit I'm unsure though.

Spoiler

The guy who sets up the studio on the island? Forget his name

For what you want to do you just need to go to Harv's island and then in one of the studio rooms press down on the d pad then right to open up your inventory as you would in your house.  select villagers from the tab they are on, far right one from memory.  You use the same method to place furniture etc

Placing a villager will also make their poster appear in the nook shopping catalogue

If you have amiibos then after going into the studio and pressing down on the dpad you can then use the amiibo to summon that character, some cannot be summoned and you will get an error message.  doing so (error message or not) then adds their poster to the nook shopping catalogue too

Ahhh, that's what I missed. I went there, but couldn't figure out how to add islanders

Will be trying again later

And also going on a weed forage. Bloody hedges are thirsty

I think there is a bit of an explanation the first time you go there but it is not particularly obvious and by the time I went back to use it properly I was a bit stumped by it for a while!

Hmm.., I’ve planted some shrubberies on cliff edges but now I’m wondering if they’ll just stay saplings....

They might do but you can always dig and move them later.  Flowers can be planted on the beach but wont grow on the beach if that makes sense.  If you plant seeds or part grown ones on the beach they just stay in that state so can be used as interesting looking beach weeds

Feel like I want to do a run around everyone's islands over the weekend too. Popping over to Rayn's place this morning and seeing how much it had changed was really cool.

Think I'm going to go for an english country lane and fields vibe for the quiet half of my island. The busy side is pretty much done for now.
