I feel I have missed something somewhere. Seeing plenty of people getting Shop upgrades this week, but I seem to have nothing.

As an aside. What do people use for a kitchen? Can you get cupboards and worktops?

It's based on when you personally got Nooks' Cranny. 30 days after that point.

So pleased about the upcoming events, although I haven't really delved into it because I want to experience it fresh! Exactly what the game needs and looks like there will be a lot to look forward to in the long term. Especially as - did you see the headline? - the game has sold more in the USA than any Mario or Zelda game! Holy...

Anyway, I finally got a cool camper in my village, a cute as feck squirrel and decided I had to have her move in. Unfortunately all my houses were full so eventually I talked her into moving and she said "shall I speak to Resident Services and see if anyone wants to move out?", I said yes. Turns out Julian (the arrogant camp unicorn with the incredible cloud house, who I'm sure some of you have seen), was wanting to leave. He's the guy who at the start I thought was a dick but I've come to appreciate him, plus that house.... so I said no.

Then I realised I would be willing to sacrifice Julian after all for this cute squirrel and spent the next 40 minutes or something ridiculous trying to persuade her to move in again. Because I'd said no the first time, the only way she would move in was for me to beat her at a card guessing game, a dialogue event which only cropped up maybe 1 in 20 dialogue attempts. And I kept failing the game again and again. And it seemed I needed to bugger off for a bit each time to reset the dialogue tree to give myself a chance to play it.

In the end though, I finally triumphed, and Julian has vanished today, which is a bit sad because I didn't get to say goodbye. Its such a shame you can't just kick out a villager of your choice because there's three other villagers I'd happily get rid of instead of the unicorn.

You know you are into AC too much when you'll waste so much time just to get a fictional squirrel to move into your fictional village!

I’ve spent ages barging into my annoying mouse in the hopes he’ll fuck off. Apparently that’s a legit thing. It makes them well cross.

Smack them over their head with a net 3 times whenever you see them, ignore them. Just fuck them off in general.

Everything I’ve read says that net smacking does nothing. In fact they talk to you after the third whack I think so that likely counts as interaction. My understanding is that there is no known mechanism yet. The most likely seems to be to ignore them completely. Which you can make easier by surrounding their house with fences.

Yeah, this is the only mechanism that I am aware of that has not been myth busted.  isolate, wait til they want to talk to you (white thought cloud above head) and hope it is the thinking about leaving conversation.  It is not as much fun as hitting with a net though

I'm pretty sure i'm still not enjoying this?

40 hours now. FF7 sitting at only 3 hours played. Trying to work out if I'm mentally eating my greens first and saving the steak for the last bite, or if i've just substituted this for going to work.

Flo the Penguin was looking a little despondent on the beach the other day, said she was thinking of moving on which came as  a shock. She was my first resident and, despite her blowing hot and cold, I really wouldn't want to lose her so persuaded her to stay. Next day she come running over all upset as she thinks she is using her 'cha' catchphrase a bit too much and was worried that the other islanders thought it was annoying (I actually did tbf). Long and short of it is that she asked me to suggest another phrase she could use so she now adds 'oi oi' to the end of most of here sentences and it makes me laugh every single time.

"Hey Iron M! How's it going?, oi oi!"

EDIT: I should add that I do not call myself Iron M. One of the animals came up with that and now they all use it...

Well I'm happy because Diva the dudfrog told me she was thinking about leaving and I was willing to pack her bags for her. Should be gone by tomorrow. My one hope is she shows up on my brother's island after jokingly telling him I'd send her to him when we were discussing our favourite and most hated villagers.

The only villager I never liked was the meathead Billy the Goat. Always banging on about his athletic prowess even though he was built like Gareth from the Office. Started a feud with Nana the Monkey who is totally lovely and sings in the square. One day he said he has had enough and wanted to go explore the world. Yeah go on then, get on your bike. He even took the house with him! You’ll be doing a TEFL online course in a box room in Kuala Lumpur next, mate.

I've got two singers -  Flo the Penguin and a small pink bird that has recently moved in and who's name I forget. They are sometimes joined by a cow who doesn't sing but happily sways along to them.

I've Nana on my island too and she's also always singing in the square on my island. She and Pinky the big pink panda are my favourite. And also Goose the gym-fanatic Rooster. Oh shit just realised I never went to welcome my new villager Lucha the wrestler bird to my island today.

Do shooting stars coincide with talking to celeste? I don't have a meteor shower scheduled or mentioned by anyone but had 4 fall after getting Celeste''s recipe. No more for the last few minutes.

The Wrestler bird sounds amazing.

I was undecided about Quillson the duck. Bit too esoteric with his language and has a high opinion of himself. I just rocked up to his house and he’s having a party with the chicken, a set of Technics and a high end stereo both going off, he goes to me “sippin’ on rice milk listening to techno, that’s Quillson style, baby!”. So yes, he’s cool as F and can stay forever.

I haven't seen a hint of a meteor since seeing one once in the first week.

In the real world, the Lyrid meteor shower is peaking tonight so worth a look outside if the skies are clear.....
