Is it because the player is effectively hosting the game? It would need Nintendo to create private servers to do it a much more conveninent, better way? I'm no tech head, so maybe someone else could throw more light on it.

Someone more knowledgable than I will have a better idea. I just don't understand why it has to disrupt absolutely everything. I'd really, honestly like to know why it's the way it is.

Same! Just being able to call DAL and open/close the gates from anywhere would be a huge plus.

 

Ok, I got a communication error and the gates closed...opening again.

Edit: Some crazy shit going on. I had the standard black loading screen for a while, then every player who was previously knocking about the island suddenly piled out of the airport? Weird.

That means comms error or the - button leaving glitch, the session/turnip buying will have been undone.

Connection issues will reset the island and possibly anything done on there as there's no save state until someone arrives or has left.

It means you can only invite villagers to the campsite, you cant invite characters such as Nook, Isabel, K'apn, Resetti, Mabel, Tortimer etc.

The first 16 or 17 cards in each of the 4 amiibo card sets were 'characters' and the remaining ones were 'villagers'.

 

All can be invited to the photo studio on Harv's island and for each that you invite to his studio their poster appears for purchase in nook shopping for 1000 bells

I have a almost a whole room of them in my house
