Been enjoying this throughout lock down. I'd managed to get my 7 year old son massively hyped for it and he loves to play every day. He spends most of his time planting flowers and ordering KK Slider songs for me, then telling me I don't have to order the newest one in guest services because he's sent me a "surprise". The thing he loves doing by far is catching new pets, though: he'll catch a new bug or fish and then put them on display in his house. He also loves all the clothes and has most of those on display, too. He'll come charging into whatever room I'm in to excitedly tell me about his latest finds. 

 

He was absolutely gutted, on the verge of tears almost, when Sprocket the robot ostrich, who moved to the island the same day we did and said "zort" a lot, decided to randomly move out. There was nothing we could do or say to convince him to stay, one day he'd just packed his boxes and was off. 

 

The other day he bought 50k worth of turnips and ate them, because he didn't understand what they were for and I didn't get a chance to explain it. 

 

As for me, I was well into it the first two weeks. I've dropped off massively, though. First I missed a day. Then it was two, now it's been about four. I do love the game but I'm finding it very hard to justify booting it up. I even forgot to buy turnips for the last two Sundays. I'd unlocked the terraforming and got my third room in my house and just haven't really put much time in since.

I assume everyone knows this but I didn’t - when you get a Nook Miles achievement it can be pretty annoying to scroll through the list looking for it. But if you just press down on the right stick it jumps straight to the achievement so you can quickly claim the delicious miles. Handy!

I envy some of your wonderful islands, I really do, but I have zero creativity or patience to do such things. I made a nice park next to the museum with slides and a climbing frame etc, but that's about it. It's very difficult to have a nice island with a 7 year old bombing round accidentally killing flowers, smashing rocks and chopping down trees.

That's fair, and also why I linked to the article rather than posting the list outright.

I figured the people worried about lack of content needed some reassurance that Nintendo have a vague idea of what they're doing. :p

Is there a way to grow bamboo shoots? There are rarer than hen's teeth.

Literally just proven myself wrong on someone's island :( it does happen more often than not though.
