I got booted back home too but hadn't bought anything. Same 'maintenance' message. Everyone showing as offline now in the game even though 6 friends are online.

Yeah, got the money back. Seems like the game reverted to the save state made just before departure to your island.

Remember it’s just a nice chill relaxing game. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t sell your turnips for a 300% markup. 
 

It’s completely possible he wasn’t aware his turnips were selling for so much, or as Moose said he just didn’t want or have the time to deal with people coming to sell. Which is perfectly fine! Christ.

This is a shitty attitude to have.  People can participate in whatever way they fancy. He may not have had the time to PM the 60 people that want to go to his island. Or even fucking wanted to. There's no obligation and definitely no fucking entitlement. People can participate how they want, not by some vague sense that the should make themselves available for all and fucking sundry.

I'm not bothering with turnips at all. It's a load of stress in an otherwise stressfree game. It's not like you won't eventually have more money than you can spend anyway. Once you get your debt cleared totally and have an upgraded house what else are you going to use it for?

 

In other news I get my terraforming tomorrow. YAY!

Just finished the three extra houses, and we have one person moved in. We have unlocked fences, which has given us quite a bit of cosmetic stuff to do on the island. Still loving it so far!
