I’m really torn about buying physical or not. On one hand it seems a bit pointless on the other hand I’m expecting the inside of the case to look incredible.

Can I use a physical cartridge on two different switches, having a different island/save on each?

looks lovely, and at the same time you can see the path to madness with all the 'optional' customisation things on offer

key takeaways I got were

  • up to 8 players on a single island, can be 8 users for the same console, but only 1 resident per user.
  • no cloud backup but a 'special' service to recover data on faulty consoles
  • bit of Minecraft lite style action to sculpt the land/terrain
  • all the usual Nook shopping with visiting sales people plus a whole crafting system too
  • no axes/spades for visitors unless you make them best friends

No cloud saves. Still in the dark about transferring saves from one switch to another...anyone know?

It was in the direct. Cloud saves are coming, they can recover saves (suggesting cloud saves ARE there, you just can’t restore them), and you can’t transfer your save as it’s tied to the Switch. But, I expect you CAN move your character to a new Switch/island.

Anyway, wasn’t going to watch but did and fuck me - there is so. much. stuff.

I think they said cloud back up - in the form we expect that to mean - isn’t supported. You know what I mean. You’d have to contact them to get it done.

What about if someone wants to do a system transfer, not just the save data. That will work, right?

They said it was coming, but not at launch.

I expect so.
