I find myself comparing Ed Gamble to Iain Stirling. I think Gamble gets away with it and it feels like he's exaggerating things as a character, whereas Stirling came across as really quite unlikeable.

We just finished watching from season one and so the new season coming is very good timing! Such a great show and only seasons 6 and 8 felt like they dipped a bit, but even then there were plenty of highlights.

Season 9 was very good. Really liked Rose, who I hadn't heard of previously.

I believe Iain Stirling was genuinely mortified by his behaviour in the group tasks.

I just saw a different brief trailer on 4 Music whilst watching Malcolm In The Middle re-runs. I'm often wrong at picking who's going to be fun to watch, but I think Lee Mack might be a good'un. Smart enough to come up with some good ideas at times, but daft enough to run with completely the wrong ones at others. Jamali Maddix is the only other contestant I've seen much of at all - and he seems like a great fit too. Really looking forward to it.

Mike Wozniak will be excellent Taskmaster fodder. You've heard it here first. Or second if I've posted in here and said it before, I forget.

For surrrrrre.

Really enjoyed him in The Beef and Dairy network and his own St Elwicks Community Newsletter one, he was great in Man Down too.

I believe he actually won the original Edinburgh Festival Taskmaster too.

Just to reiterate that NZ Taskmaster is excellent. The first episode was a slight struggle watching Paul (not-Alex) do an Alex impression in the studio but I found him uniformly excellent during the tasks. Jeremy is also no Greg Davies but I got used to him after a while. The contestants are all good fun and it has perhaps my favourite task out of all of Taskmaster towards the end of the series.

Also, check out the album Surf Music by Paul Williams / Not-Alex. It is legitimately amazing. His music videos are often really good too.

Rachel Horne was on the radio last week talking about the show, in addition to this one just starting they've all but finished the series to come after and have also filmed a number of tasks for the one after that. It's a relentless machine and I hope it carries on forever

I've been going through them too and it has been excellent. Perhaps a bit swearier and I find Guy a touch irritating at times but overall it's been a great stop gap between the last and next series of the original.

Yes, agreed on Guy. It's an odd one in that he can be irritating in studio but comes across much better during the tasks.

Enjoying it so far, but Oh My Gosh there's a McDonnell Douglas Phantom in the background of this task and I'm lost. I try to be immune to aircraft porn, but the Phantom is my weakness. I'm trying to watch the task, but I'm only seeing the plane.

The plate challenge?

I thought that was a Tornado? Looked boxier than the Phantom

The studio segments are still really suffering for the lack of audience, but that was lots of fun. Mike Wozniak was brilliant andCharlotte Ritchie enjoying various forms of transportation was the highlight for me

Wozniak strikes me as one of those thesps that’s had a really varied career and has loads of secret skills he’s picked up.

I'm a big fan of his outside of Taskmaster but am wholly onboard with his TM vibe of "Geography teacher in an anxiety dream."

"You want me to what..? Plates on a...? Oh Jesus alright fine... where's it going out..? Channel 4!?!? Oh GOD."

Yeah, hope C4 hold off on filming the next series’ studio sections until some sort of live audience is allowed back in. Greg Davies doing his best to keep the energy up, but the chemistry felt mostly flat on the stage.

Thought Charlotte was harshly done by on the bedding; carrying a full set is awkward as anyone who’s shuffled to the sofa with their duvet and pillow on a lazy weekend will testify. Otherwise some good tasks and a nice variety of approaches to them.

It was a Tornado (probably a GR4 but might have been a GR1 depending on how old it is).

Just finished up Taskmaster NZ and have to say it was a triumph. The initial trepidation - is this going to work without Greg and Alex, is it going to lack originality, is going to be flat when you know nobody involved - faded quickly and I was just eagerly settling down to enjoy the next episode.

A second series is excellent news.

Now I'll just have to start learning some Scandinavian languages...

I might have fallen in love with Sarah Kendall's hair.  It's magnificent. Any opinion I have on this series after this should be considered biased.

Really great this week. All the task offered up laughs. Was worried about the team task as they’re quite limited by social distancing. But the plan to get the task from the third podium, h-a-n-d and duck won me over.

Also polished of the last three episodes of the NZ show (I’d watched the others last year). Once adapted to the change of Greg and Alex I think it’s close to the best of the UK series. Not quite but very close.

Charlotte doesn’t know how to argue. She has a case of the Katherine’s: posh, extremely nice and pretty useless.

Mike is a delight. Staid appearance but the sheer effort, aggressive competence and weird creative streak is perfect for the format.

Jamali’s contempt for the format is amusing without being obnoxious.

I prefer the cast to last season - there’s no standouts on either side like Daisy or Katherine but none of them are as aggressively boring and unfunny as Richard Herring was.

The show is still missing something without an audience but it is what it is.

I'm not sure why but my favourite moment in last night's episode was Mike saying

Spoiler

"This is precious hair!"

Everyone's great!
