Reddick was a consistently great actor that could elevate the most average of dialogue, just cos of his voice and acting talent.

Saddened by this. His role as Sylens in Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West were highlights of both games. I don't think they could have that character return and play as big a role without him.

Not only a great actor but a wonderful person too. You could tell by his social media interactions that he was 100% genuine, humble, and the real deal.

Yeah, but he was supposed to have a dodgy accent. He was playing an undercover cop pretending to be a Yardie. It's pointed out by another character that his accent slips when he's high.

I had completely erased this from my brain - you are dead right. Obviously the pre-plot development impression of this accent lingered on in my head. The memory is a funny thing.

I don’t know if this will come across the way I intend, but I grew up seeing Paul’s drag persona Lily Savage, and it completely normalised drag and beyond for me.
 

Obviously, like a lot of people, I’ve been on a bit of a journey with regards to understanding and correctly talking about anything that blurs the lines of gender. Not that I used them often, but definitely dropping old phrases like “tranny” or “gender bender” and other bigoted and  insulting terms that never seemed that wrong at the time. Then you realise how wrong they were and you think, “why didn’t I instinctively know that?”

 

So I’m appreciative of his contribution to television and to opening up the LGBTQ+ world for people in bubbles like I very much was.

I was never a fan of Lily Savage - not my thing - but he always came across as a genuinely warm person who gave a damn about others.
