He was a bloody fantastic actor.

Sad news - he was great in a number of things I saw as a kid. I loved him in Tron and Time Bandits. He was also excellent in Star Trek VI, and of course he was a massive part of why the Chain of Command Part 2 episode of TNG is so long remembered. Everyone knows 'THERE! ARE!... FOUR! LIGHTS!', but that moment would mean so much less without David Warner's acting contribution to the dynamic between Picard and his captor, Madred.

MADRED: Good morning. I trust you slept well?
(Picard taken down. He can't lower his arms completely. Madred pours a drink from a flask)
MADRED: Thirsty? I would imagine so. Well, It's time to move on.
PICARD: I've told you all that I know.
MADRED: Yes, I'm sure you have. (he turns on four spotlights behind his desk) How many lights do you see there?
PICARD: I see four lights.
MADRED: No, there are five. Are you quite sure?
PICARD: There are four lights.
MADRED: Perhaps you're aware of the incision on your chest. While you were under the influence of our drugs, you were implanted with a small device. It's a remarkable invention. By entering commands in this PADD, I can produce pain in any part of your body at various levels of severity. Forgive me. I don't enjoy this but I must demonstrate. It will make everything clearer.
(Picard falls to his knees in agony)
MADRED: Surprising, isn't it? Most people feel at first that they can steel themselves against it but they're completely unprepared for the intensity of the pain. That was the lowest possible setting.
PICARD: I know nothing about Minos Korva.
MADRED: But I've told you that I believe you. I didn't ask you about Minos Korva. I asked how many lights you see.
PICARD: There are four lights.
MADRED: I don't understand how you can be so mistaken.

Ah man, loved David Warner, played a host of great villains. Saw him at a comicon in Cardiff many years ago, although he was there as for being in Game Of Thrones. He will always be Sark / MCP in Tron or Evil Genius in Time Bandits.

Very sad. Although weirdly I thought he had died last year.

Such a fantastic actor with an incredibly varied career, was always a highlight when he turned up in something.

David Warner has been in everything pretty much. Recent films I've seen with him in include Waxwork and Straw Dogs, and a few low-budget duffers, although he was one of those actors who was a total professional whatever the project.

Shame about David Warner, really liked him in load of different things. I saw him in Waxworks a few years ago, and he was having a great time. 

 

He was in so much stuff, and pretty much always excellent in it.

He might in something and just have a few lines but still be memorable. Like in Airport 79 The Concorde as the flight engineer.

It's an great film, sadly overlooked I feel, one of the better time travel films. McDowell, Warner and Steenburgen are good leads, although Mary Steenburgen later became more famous for another certain time travel trilogy hah.

I love David Warner. What a fantastic actor. Straw Dogs, Star Trek V and VI, from the lowest budget stuff to the biggest film (at the time) of all time in Titanic. The last thing I remember seeing him in was playing Wallander's Father with Kenneth Branagh. His descent into dementia was utterly convincing and very sad.

 

Didn't know he was in the original Twin Peaks. What a career.

A little bit of good news about David Warner is that he managed to record something with Christopher Ecclestone at Big Finish for the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who before he sadly passed so there is one more piece of work to look forward to but will be bittersweet.
