I honestly think the Dreamcast is hideously over-rated. For the most part the "classics" have been, IMHO, crap and they didn't exactly sell well either.

The only games I miss (I can't use my DC now as, due to the well-documented terrible build quality of the console,, it is my only console ever to have broken down) are Metropolis:Street Racer (I'm guessing PGR will be a good replacement) and Shenmue. A lot of the so-called "classics" are also avalable on other platforms (see: Rez, Space Channel 5 Parts 1 and 2, Chu Chu Rocket, Skies of Arcadia, Ikaruga) or have sequels on other platforms (See: PGR, Shenmue 2, Soul Calibur 2, Jet Set Radio Future).

Not the point.  DC got there first, did them better.

For a start I called them "so-called" for a reason. I honestly don't think these "classics" are up to much. One that really gets me is Jet Set Radio, which I think is one of the worst games in my collection but suckered people in by the graphics and sound. Incidentally, I think the same thing about Viewtiful Joe.

Secondly, "did them better" really is pushing it on some of those games.

Indeed - I'm much the same apart from I don't own an Xbox. I'm not sure why you come in here being so self righteous about how pointless this thread is anyway? The thread was clearly fucking pointless from the first post, and was pointed out as such. But still such stupid threads are also some of the most fun to go along with.

And it ran for 6 pages of utter nothingness. I wasn't being self righteous. I've indulged in pointless threads too. But all that was going on was dissing one console in favour of another.

What's the point? It wasn't leading anywhere. At all.

And as a forum open to all, my opinion on this thread is just as valid as yours. But that's life, I guess.
