Some of the stuff there reveals the leaks were true, the story has been "out there" for months.

And everyone was hoping they were false because it's a bit crap, and yeah, a total nostalgia fest.

What leaks were those?

Bits shown in that trailer:

Spoiler

Rey has the Sith Dagger when they're smashing Kylos Darth mannequin together

We see C-3PO getting the mind wipe from Babu Frick that they cop out of at the end

Assault on Horseback by Finn and Jannah

The icy asteroid base

Chewbacca being rescued by Poe and Finn

Sith Fleet rising from the ice

Palpatine is properly alive, not a hologram or force ghost as people speculated

Rey and Kylo fight in the DS2 throne room

The trailer looks fine and dandy as all of them have been.

I'm sure the film will go down as being 'perfectly watchable'.

That's literally as much as I can enthuse about the franchise these days.

Unless we start talking about Knights of the Old Republic and I'll quite happily become frisky again.

The trailer looks like an actual sequel to The Force Awakens and mildly interesting.

Lots of industry rumours JJ is still shooting this... as well as testing six different endings.

6 slightly different endings as in same scene tweaked dialogue, not 6 completely different endings to throw people off type thing....

As in alternate endings Bandersnatch style so that when it’s streamed later it will look at your viewing habits and history and stream the ending that’s most likely to satisfy your needs as a true fan or casual.

So when are the tickets out? Anyone know?

VUE* are selling tickets today so I guess everyone else will be too.

* not quite yet, I just checked.

Tickets are up at both VUE and Odeon now (not sure about elsewhere). As mentioned earlier, I've got midnight tickets sorted at my local VUE and then booked tickets to see it in Dolby Cinema HDR at the new Odeon Cinema in Leeds on the Saturday.

Hope the Dolby Cinema is worth it. The VUE tickets are £6.50 each. The Odeon ones are £16.75!

Visually, it looks absolutely fantastic, although that really should be the bare minimum with a production budget of $200m+.

I’m sure in the context of the film it’ll be sweet, maybe even heartfelt, but that C3PO line is a honking ‘member berry in the trailer... you guys, I think this is the last film in the saga!

But whatever they do, someone will be disappointed. And with the size of the fan base even if that’s a minority of the audience, it’ll sound far noisier. With that in mind, really hope they don’t tie themselves in knots with revisions etc, and just tell a good, honest story, which harks back to the Saturday matinees A New Hope itself was aping.

Obviously will see it day one, and hopefully enjoy it enough to catch another screening. It’ll be fine, absolutely fine. And hearing any John Williams in full Dolby is worth the price of entry alone.

Booked for the Thursday evening. I’m too old for any of that midnight screening business.

But I now realise I’ve completely overestimated the time left before it’s out. We were planning to watch all the films (yes even those ones, in story order to get them out of the way first), one every weekend in the build up, but there aren’t enough weekends left!

Oh and that trailer looks amazing and as they still haven’t shown Palps (back view of his hood doesn’t count) I still think he’s going to be

Spoiler

one of the rubbish robots from Shattered Empire (and I think they might have been in Aftermath too?)  I’m setting my expectations low on that one.

anytime a SW character comes back as a....

Spoiler

..Half robot - it a real copout in the story. Darth Maul appearing at the end of Solo - made the whole thing feel like a sub video game narrative (as if it needed much help). I can accept it in comics or games - but in the films it's a really cheap get out of jail card.

And yes I know big Darth V was a half machine - but that was the central premise of the entire six part saga - and not a cheap plot device to bring back a fan favourite character.
