She's not going to the Dark Side. Even the shittiest modern trailer is not going to give away a twist like for a film of this size. Something looks off about that visually scene too, too much CG? And the light saber movement is stupid.

An official press pack of some sort referred to it as a 'vision' of Rey with a double-lightsaber.

Not even convinced it’s Rey, such is the weird look / light. Wildly incorrect guess it’s Rey’s mum in flashback, Emperor Palpatine fostered her family’s force powers and is now getting the family back together.

EDIT: just seen your post @Paulando - yeah a vision makes sense, it looks weird.

It looks like Keri Russell to me, but I thought she was playing a different character?

The closing shot better be all the good Jedi ghosts waving at Rey or Kylo while the ewoks (or some other cuddly substitutes) play a song and have a dance.

Obi-Wan, Anakin (original ROTJ version), Luke, Yoda, Qui-Gon, Mace (and maybe Leia?)

I would just love that.

Also C-3PO is straight up going to be calling humans meatbags in this, isn't he? Because the big change is Abrams realising he can use early-2000s nostalgia in addition to 1980s nostalgia.

Force ghost possession, I'll bet.

That's 100% going to happen.

And Tony Stark.

Do you guys even have eyes? That's Daisy Ridley. Clearly.

It looks like an amalgamation of both actors faces. Could be trolling us?

It would make sense that Russell has a larger role than has been hinted at as she’s an alumni of JJ’s from way back . She was the lead in the Abrams-produced Felicity and had small roles in MI:III and Star Trek. Her stock has only increased in recent years thanks to The Americans.

I’m calling it; It’s Keri Russell in the trailer. (Having said that, it is very muggy tonight so I could just be suffering from heatstroke)

Those all seem like criticisms of TFA, rather than TLJ, is I guess more what I was trying to get at. Snoke turns up in TFA for, what, 5 minutes tops? Sitting in a hologram chair, complaining that the other two aren't good enough. We get no idea at all how the First Order got re-established, or any of that. But everyone was fine with that!

I wasn't. Just how did the first order get established? Is it explained anywhere?

The new films are utter shite with this stuff. It seems the screenwriters just couldn't deal with a universe where the rebels had won and taken over things, setting up new governments and a new senate. We seems to have reverted to a situation where the evil Empire is following  a small band of rebels. There are like 5 left at the end of TLJ.

I seem to to be the only person in the world bothered by this so I'm assuming it IS explained elsewhere and I just missed it.

@sandman see my post on the previous page, I have a number of questions around "scene setting" as well. Neither TFA or TLJ have done a great job of this.

Also, here is Rey's dark side face from the trailer. Definitely looks odd, almost cat like eyes.

The comics, books and battlefront 2 have covered some of this.

Operation cinder was carried out as the emperors last command after his death and certain imperials were instructed to destroy their infrastructure and retreat out to the unknown regions of the galaxy to rebuild.

You're doing it wrong Dave. You're only allowed to hate Star Wars now

Yeah maybe I should stay away. The first thing I think of when people say that they’re annoyed that they don’t know how the New Order was formed I remember last month, after RotJ when I still didn’t know where the fuck the empire came from.

EDIT: FIRST Order. Sorry I’m new.

It's just a force vision of her if she went dark, same as Luke being Vader in the cave on Dagobah.

I've seen this clarification posted in a few places ( @Matt Defis's original link to the video, and elsewhere), but how is this known? Was it mentioned in a panel discussion or something? If so I'm surprised the creators world reveal it like that.

The 3PO thing is obviously going to tie in with the Aphra comics and he gets some triple 0 program uploaded into him.

I've only read a few of the Vader/Aphra comics but Triple-zero is a great character. Imagine if something created by ex-forumite @KieronGillen got into a Star Wars movie! :o

Looks good with the exception of the folding/swinging lightsaber which looked like it was created after focus group research

It looks as lame as when Hawkeye popped his bow open in the first Avengers. That said I think it could have looked better if they'd had her do a bigger flourish when opening it up to disguise it.

As someone who enjoyed TLJ I just hope JJ doesn't slide it up to 11 with the fan-service.
