Good points. My midfield did have Salah until about a week or two ago (Swapped out Salah and Zaha for Kane and Richarlison) so might get him back in - or Hazard - and get rid of Kane.

I so have my wild card available (usually used by the first international break) and am considering using it.

Most seasons I tend to have a cheap backline- Usually 2 4.5 keepers, one 6m defender and the rest below 5.5 - with a 3.9/4m non-playing one to free up funds. Spend big in that area this time round hence the cheaper midfield.

I still have my wildcard too. Never normally keep it this long, and looking at the fixtures the time to use it seems to be over the next couple of gameweeks, or save it for an emergency and wait until December to reorganise for the festive fixtures. I follow the same rules with the wildcard as I do for all my transfers. Will this team get more points over a mid-term period than my other one? Much harder to do when comparing 8+players compared with just two, and also with the added caveat that for a successful wildcard you really want your new team to do better than your old team at the very first time of asking as well as over a longer period.

I figured the Kane transfer was a recent thing. I was toying with the idea of doing the same as you but looking at it the transfers I made instead I got more points. I also hate swapping big name players around as I've been badly burned doing that before. I don't envy you the decision of what to do with him.

If you do wildcard, I would really recommend looking at double Liverpool defence. Their run is so good and since they signed Van Dijk they have the meanest defence in the league. Lovren or TAA along with Robinson could be a points bonanza. In a couple of drafts I've done I've looked at this whilst experimenting with 3 budget strikers (Arnie, Mitro, King) and a packed out midfield of Salah, Hazard and Stirling. It's maverick, but it looks really good. Don't know if I have the guts to pull the trigger on that though!

  • 2 weeks later...

Thought about playing my wildcard, but in the end just swapped Kane out for Aguero (and have him the armband).  Kane’s got a great record against West Ham, but tends to do badly if he’s played midweek, while Aguero has had his feet up.

If I have another bad week, I’ll consider wildcarding.

Reckon Hazard should be good for a penalty against a Man United, if Mourinho employs the same tactics as last time they met.

Taking a risky 8 point punt this week, holding my wildcard for when it backfires and I need to change it all next week

Sort of paid off. Put in Salah, Shaqiri and Wilson. The first two picked up some points and Mo was captained. The people they replaced (Neves, Moura and Kane) all done nothing so that's alright

What an absolutely awful week for the template.

I got 40 points and jumped up 14k places to 60k overall rank. Was fully expecting a massive red arrow.

41 points and dropped 700 places to 3000th. !

In the end I traded trippier for Mendy and this week i saved my 2 free transfers for something special...

Ended up on 63 and really my only mistakes were not captaining Fernandinho (but then, who would?) and maybe having Patricio in goal rather than Fabianksi although that would have only netted me an extra point.

What's your name in the league dude?

Chelsea have got Burnley, Palace and Everton for the next 3 gameweeks so that's potentially 18 points for Alonso. If I had him, I'd keep him in the short term at least unless you're thinking about making money on him. Bellerin only has 2 clean sheets so I'm not sure that Arsenal defensive assets are worth it even if they are winning.

I don't understand people who are dropping Mane when Liverpool have Cardiff at Anfield next. Surely you'd keep him for that game at least if you had him.

I'm considering Robertson as my captain for this week. Liverpool aren't raining goals right now and even though they're playing Cardiff (and will win) I'm not feeling Salah/Mane/Firminio getting a brace.

Using my free transfer, I might temporarily drop Jorginho for Ryan Fraser for one week due to them playing Fulham's shitty defence. Who have you dropped/bought in @Hellcock?

I feel exposed having no Arsenal but I don't really have the financial headroom for Lacazette or Aubameyang.

Tell you after the deadline ;)

Noticed de bruyne started for city last night. Might be value in getting him in. .

I'm also tempted to bring back in Bernardo Silva. If i hadn't traded in him for Moura after a couple of weeks i would probably be top 500 !

Watford have got some decent fixtures coming up. I want to ditch Kante and am looking at bringing in a Watford midfielder instead. Tricky, though.

Delafeou, Capoue, or Dacoure!? Arrrrgh.

That said, I am also hovering over Ings and Zaha as potential departures.
