Because we worth it!

I am still a rookie at SFV, but I am in love with fighting games. I want to learn the othe ones enough to understand what is going on.

It would be nice to have a proper thread of fighting games!!!

I have never been into fighting games.

I'm a mid age man with a mid age crisis. I fell in love with the idea of fighting games after watching this video of Patrick Miller.

I'd also thought about making this thread many times. I know there was an old thread called Tiger Uppercut or something but no-one ever seemed to find it or post in it.

Has anyone bought Fighting EX Layer? I quite liked the general feel of the pre-release version, though I didn't play it much. I'm guessing it's going to be more or less DOA in terms of online population since I've seen basically no hype for it.

I think we can leave that old thread alone, as this thread is specifically for fighters that aren't Street fighter. It's kinda pointless to make a thread for each fighter as each thread is just doomed to sink into obscurity if it doesn't have Ryu and co in it. This is ESPECIALLY the case for the anime fighting games.

I promise Ill edit a nice first post!.

Yes on the steam sale I ordered various Guilty Gears and Blazblues just to see I had nowere to talk about them.

Even Mortal Kombat is far from the SF supremacy.. and that is even after SFV was considered a failure.

I guess Playstation is still the main platform for fighting games.

I am not sure  learn BB of GG, I am really in love with the GG art, and their combo counts are lower

Yeah, I didn't literally mean 'it cannot be found' ;)

More that people often asked if there was a general fighting games thread, were vaguely directed there and it was usually left un-bumped.

Nice OP, but your list of tags has one glaring omission - DB FighterZ.

I dropped this myself because of other games but it's still a ton of fun if you're just doing casual matches, and the online 3v3 mode (essentially six players in a match, with each one controlling one character) they added post-release has potential to be as fun as the old 2v2 co-op mode in SFxT.

That said, I haven't bothered with any paid DLC (characters etc) for FighterZ...

Might pick this up when it comes to Switch. Also, SNK Heroines :D

I love fighters, but SFIV is the only one I've put any serious time into.  If anyone wants a scrap on a non-SF fighter I'd be game.  I don't have many of the newer titles, but have loads of older ones.  I'll be useless at basically all of them, mind.

Smash.

... Don't look at me like, pleb. All games mentioned so far are, essentially, Street Fighter. Only 3D fighter like SoulCalibur and Tekken manage to truly break away from the mold, and even then they still share mostly the same concepts. Smash is the only fighting game that shares the same fundamentals and mechanical depth (footsies, zoning, pressure, etc.) as Street Fighter without copying everything that made Street Fighter Street Fighter.

Agreed. It takes all the best bits of both 2D fighters and 3D fighters and makes them work beautifully, somehow. The roster is also huge and balanced, which can't be said for most other fighters.

Everyone buy Garou : Mark of the Wolves for £3.99 on PSN right now. You also get the Vita version and a nice PS4 theme included in the price too!

Already have this on Switch, but I just double-dipped. Nice one! How's the netcode?

Also - Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, Rival Schools, Power Stone and Karnov's Revenge.

Fighting games that are not Street Fighter? First one that comes to mind is Street Fighter V.

:hat:

In all seriousness, Street Fighter is the only fighting game series I have invested serious time into over the years. I do love everything about  Garou, it's gorgeous and plays like a dream - but I will never get to the same level with that as I did with Street Fighter, I was too late to the party.

As far as games that are absolutely nothing like Street Fighter go, I've always had a soft spot for Bushido Blade. That was truly different and a fascinating concept, one that I always felt had loads of potential.

Wish I could tell you - haven't found a single match yet but there's plenty to keep a single player busy!
