In professional snooker you aren't allowed the same name as another registered player. There are shit players who were registered first who have a name locked down and all time greats who have to use a middle initial.

That always struck me as absurd. But it makes more sense than newcomers being able to call themselves Clint Eastwood just because their parents names them after the only famous first name with their surname.

It's confusing if two people have the same name. Imagine if you'd paid for a cinema ticket thinking Charlie Murphy had come back to life and changed gender and race, and was now from Ireland and much younger, and how cross you'd be when you discovered the truth.

The reason they couldn't make a film get the go ahead previously was because Microsoft were too greedy with their licensing fees so I assume something changed on their end too

Yeah, Halo got shit.

Neg me all you want but if a bonafide Hollywood legend already had the same name and they only died like five years ago tops (edit 2 years ago guy is still fucking warm ffs) it's just the right thing to do to differentiate yourself. Her name is Charlotte too so it's not like she didn't have options. She knows what she's doing. She should never work again as long as she maintains that name without a middle initial or whatever. Imagine some young whippersnapper actor came along and his name was Jaime Lee Curtis. Shit wouldn't fly. And rightly so.

Fuck off with this, my other half was given the name Charlotte when she was born, but she's not Charlotte, shes a Charly. You don't get to decide how somebody else uses their name

Actually SAG might. Hence Michael Keaton only being called that because Kirk Douglas’ sin got to his real name first  or why there’s a J in Michael J Fox. Assume she’s dodged all that on account of Charlie Murphy v1.0 shuffling off this mortal coil.

You have to differentiate names if you're in SAG (Screen Actors Guild, US) and Equity (UK) have the same rule. But they don't cross over, so you can be Delquoit Humpernackers III over here and find out to your chagrin there's a bloke with the same moniker living in Des Moines, possibly stealing your roles.

Unless she is an actress and her surname is Murphy or Sheen I don't see how that has any relevance to this discussion. Even then it doesn't because she spells it with a y.

Crikey that looks naff.

Why did they decide to redesign a more ‘realistic' Cortana so she now looks like some awful CGI from a mid-budget late 90’s film when the original blue or purple glowy woman would at least help hide their obvious budget limitations somewhat.

At least it's not the Halo 4, naked big tittied AI that we got I suppose.

The masterstroke was deciding to launch their Siri-beater under the same name 2 years later, so all the journalists trying to crank out a story were faced with a different kind of cranking material on Google Images.

I think the problem is that as a series Halo is all about the gameplay to most sane people. The story has either been paper thin, completely incomprehensible or absolute drivel throughout for twenty years. Reach and ODST kind of get away with it but their plots are just slightly shoddy Aliens ripoffs and certainly wouldn't be something you'd engage with outside of something you actually play.

But hey maybe it'll work. It's definitely just going to be their version of The Mandalorian and that Cortana is absolutely terrifying but aside from that if the action's fun there might be something half decent in there.

That looks about as impressive as I would expect for something that has been in development / investment hell for fuck knows how long. I've always thought that making a Halo movie or TV show look really good would take a lot of money and at this stage especially that isn't something anyone is willing to do, so we end up with this potentially serviceable effort that is trying its best but is always going to fall short.

I really do want this to be good, but I think the opportunity for a Halo live action adaption to really deliver was missed many years ago.

Also, I read most of the EU books with Ghosts of Onyx in particular being excellent so I'm likely going to be all over this when it lands regardless of how underwhelming it may look beforehand.
