SHOWTIME brings its powerful legacy of experience in building stories for premium cable and together with Amblin Television and legendary storyteller Steven Spielberg, have been gracious partners in helping put together the right creative team to bring Halo to television. We are thrilled to have experienced showrunner Kyle Killen (Lone Star) and blockbuster director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) on board, both of whom bring their own flavor of vision, intelligence, and voice to Halo.

It will be a 9-part epic of MasterChief slowly descending the metal ramps of the Library while asking Cortana to do random web searches for him. Then a 90-minute finale as he runs back up again chased by some shit alien zombies.

I don't understand why they have tried so hard to make this a thing.

I think this might be a sign we are close to the peak for the current TV drama Golden Age. Everybody else is so shit scared of Netflix eating their lunch they'll commission literally anything with some built-in audience now. The reason they couldn't make a film get the go ahead previously was because Microsoft were too greedy with their licensing fees so I assume something changed on their end too, unless Showtime are that desperate for a hit.

Pablo Schreiber to play Master Chief. An Aussie newcomer (but with stage experience), Yerin Ha, also cast as "Quan Ah, a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both."

That's interesting - fab in The Wire, the best thing in American Gods. Even with a lid on I can see him having the right level of physical presence / charisma. Good choice!

Some more cast

Danny Sapani as Captain Jacob Keyes

Olive Gray as Dr. Miranda Keyes

Charlie Murphy as Makee, an orphaned human who was raised by the alien Covenant and shares their contempt for humanity

Production beginning this month, to begin airing in Q1 2021.

Charlie Murphy should be legally obliged to change her name. Add an initial or something. Shit is just straight up rude.

Neg me all you want but if a bonafide Hollywood legend already had the same name and they only died like five years ago tops (edit 2 years ago guy is still fucking warm ffs) it's just the right thing to do to differentiate yourself. Her name is Charlotte too so it's not like she didn't have options. She knows what she's doing. She should never work again as long as she maintains that name without a middle initial or whatever. Imagine some young whippersnapper actor came along and his name was Jaime Lee Curtis. Shit wouldn't fly. And rightly so.

I’d never heard of either Charlie Murphy until this thread.

Anyhow, this will be cack.

If you've never seen the Chapelle show Charlie Murphy's Hollywood Stories episode you should rectify that ASAP. Quite possibly the best comedy sketch ever.

"I'm Rick James bitch. Enjoy yo self".

Also yes, it very clearly will. Most generic sci-fi story ever, being tapped into ten years after the fan base peaked. It's got big dull did written all over it.

Meh, who cares. If Steve McQueen can do it so can she.

He's in a different industry though? I think. If there's an actor called Steve McQueen who isn't a direct descendent he can get fucked. If he is a fashion designer (like I think) that's acceptable while I also think he's a twat unless it's his actual name. Acceptable twattery.

But even if it's your actual name and you're not his descendent you can't be Steve McQueen as an actor. You just can't. Call yourself Stephen or something.

Alexander McQueen was the fashion designer. Steve McQueen is a film director so while not an actor, it is the same industry.

Plus as far as your bugbear here goes, the possibly unpalatable truth is that Charlie Murphy just ain't very well known, particularly on this side of the Atlantic. If some Irish woman grows up always being called Charlie, fair goes.

I caught it before you said it. I stand by it. Fuck him. And fuck her.

Oh I'm Steve McQueen. No you aren't, ya fucking fanny. You just know he never went by Steve as well. Her, I might give the benefit of the doubt to maybe she didn't know. But her management should have told her there already was a Charlie Murphy and despite not being a huge success himself he achieved legendary status through being named in that Chapelle show sketch.

These fucking kids today have no respect.

I'm gonna file an official motion to have her deported. Real Irish people aren't called Charlotte. Family are all tans if you ask me.
