There are plenty of quirks, such as, "can you tell me where she is?", despite tje conversation only ever referring to a merchant, and no mention of gender.

But the game has ... something. :)

Also, pistols and magic is proving quite powerful.

In certain areas, and at certain times of day, this is one of the nicest looking games I've ever played.

I've experienced a few issues like quest logic, and my female legate being referred to as a he on occasion, but I still think this is a great achievement that it's competing with AAA titles.

New Serene is often foggy and dusty but then you exit the Governors place and witness the sun setting in the face of the red brick buildings; it's almost breathtaking in contrast.

Lots and lots of minor faults and quibbles but nothing getting in the way of some seriously good gaming.

Just discovered something very nice indeed at the end of an initiative 2 wriggly passage........

Kurt's sidequest was good. Think it's finished, but it does hint at something happening later.

Spoiler

Being a charismatic motherfucker helped me save Wilhelm, and that in turn helped me talk the other squadron out of fighting, leaving only the actual cunts to be killed.

Didn't harm any of the other soldiers. :)

But there's mention of a higher up still needing to be caught.

I feel I'm hurtling along towards the conclusion now, after some gnarly Théléme related investigation, but must surely have more companion quests to do.  Also there are a fair few areas which haven't been fully explored.

Note - areas are often blocked off or doors aren't "active" until certain points are reached

I'm getting to grips with the crafting system now. With the aid of Kurt, who when included in my team gives me a +1 in crafting, I've managed to craft a talisman that gives me a +1 in Science. So now I can craft simple magic and health potions from all the shit I've been looting from beasts.

The systems here are all nicely interlinked, I really like it.

Thread title needs to be updated.

"Greedfall - do not sell your sailor outfits!"

I needed them again for a quest much later in the game. Only by then I'd sold them, and had to buy fancy expensive versions because the vendors were no longer selling the normal one.

So what's everyone's main team? For me it's been mostly Siora and Petrus, with a little Vasco. I've only used Kurt when absolutely necessary (his voice annoys the fuck out of me).

Petrus has been a great surprise, he looks, and especially sounds, like an uber-creepy paedo, but he's been the most pragmatic when things get dicey, and hasn't let his faith blind him. He's also been extremely useful when dealing with the Ordo Luminis order of nutters.

I'm curious, though. Both Siora and Petrus only regard me as "Nice", not a friend, and therefore I have not unlocked their stat bonuses. Where did I go wrong I wonder?

@Thor, I think I said this earlier in the thread, you don't need the outfits to complete any quests, there are always other options. You can sneak, you could take Vasco with you (if it is Naut area), you could blow up a wall, there might be a vigour (balance/jump) or intuition option.

I used Kurt and Siora predominantly when exploring, but switched in the others when it made sense for them to be part of the team. I particularly like Aphra, even though we double up on science expertise.

As for you Siora/Petrus question, i'm hoping they unlock later on, i've 30 hours on the clock and have the same as you.

I've kept the sailor suit because it has +1 lock picking on it (a fact I didn't appreciate in the prologue).  It is crazy how you only need to change the main character except for once so far when you suddenly need to purchase 3 outfits.

Anyway, since I'm a kick ass mage I usually roll with Vasco and Aphra, although on normal difficulty it really doesn't matter one jot.  Vasco is a must though for important talky bits since that way I obtain intuition 3.  I've recently done a whole swathe with Petrus and he's great.  I really like that character.  I've also used Siora a great deal with all the various native interactions.  Kurt was useful early on.  So, it's been a good mix.

As for relationships, Vasco is just itching to get into my pants (playing male), so that's all sorted for this run.  I was also angling for Aphra but keeping everything strictly rational.  Like you I still have work to do with Petrus and Siora but at least I have a new lead for the former.

I'm now beginning to wonder what I have actually changed or altered (other than the two either / or quests you encounter in the prologue).  I'm generally a conciliatory type who doesn't go round causing trouble.  I've got 2 points in both charm and intuition and have cash to binge on bungs (after THAT bit with Kurt).  Early on when there is a mission to sneak in and rescue some "lions" I didn't spot the quiet option and didn't have the necessary intuition to wriggle through the gap, so blood was shed.  However, that seems pretty minor and everything is tickety boo with them now.  I did take an important decision re Theléme but feel I've done little of significance with the Bridge Alliance.

I hope the secret achievements reveal or anticipate things I haven't encountered at all.

I think I may be further along in some quests, and well behind in others. For example, I had no idea who Aphra was until your post, @Cosmic_Guru, I just googled her. There's been a main quest I've been putting off (something about scholars or something, near Hikmut) so I'm guessing I meet her when I crack on with that.

Kurt finally revelaed his feelings for me, I was feeling kinda bad for rejecting him (not Witcher 3 rejecting Yen bad, but pretty bad), and then he just casually said "Anything else?"

Now I know how easily he got over me, I want him more.

Interesting!  We'll have to chat more when we're all finished.  I'm now beginning to think the single occasion on which I restrained Siora from expressing her grief and anger might have been highly significant to our relationship, I can't think of any other reason why we are not best chums given all the leg work I do for the natives and my generally pacific approach.

Really looking forward to the end of the Petrus side quest chain tonight.

I'm not sure how far you are through now @Cosmic_Guru, but it is pretty late on you can become best buds with Siora. Certainly was for me.

It looks as though companion / loyalty missions unlock after certain story events.

Oh good.  Certain things clearly need to be done in a particular order in this to make any sense at all (think Nauts and Petrus), and I'm guessing that the final bits of the "main quest" will be pretty native-centric, so there could be opportunities there.

I'm finding this tiresome now. Every time you go to someone regarding a quest, you have to do something for them before they'll help you. I feel the quality has dropped off and it has become Errand Boy: The Game. Even moreso where sidequests are concerned. The amount of back-and-forth between the same people for one quest in particular was absurd.

To be fair, this is not a game beyond criticism.

The quality of the quests vary hugely (the companion quests being the highlight for me) so doing a few clunkers in a row could put a bit of a downer on the game. I had the opposite last night. Did some really good story quests then Siora's companion quest and it's probably been the high point of the game for me so far.

There are loads of things which could be criticised about this game.  My personal bugbear is the African / Irish / Godawful somewhere-between-the-two native accents (they should have chosen Welsh or Irish and stuck with it).

I keep thinking I'll just have to buckle down and finish the main quest, and something else pops up.
