Hopefully, and probably, seeing as they've recently released a demo for it, they'll drop the ludicrous price for Sol Cresta as well. Hybris simply doesn't suit Platinum I'm afraid.

Well Evolve was seven years ago. 😱

 

But it had a solid enough launch month before it dropped off rapidly. This thing launched like a lead weight. 

 

I wonder if it even got released in the end. I don't know game development but surely Platinum and Square had to know this was a lemon months ahead of release. Why stay throwing good money after bad, just kill the damned thing.

I'd compare it to Anthem if not for the fact that Anthem and Evolve were more "high-profile"; BF went for months without updates and then they just kind of pushed out a few betas and then the game - none of which had any real interest.

I think being able to remember the names of stuff like Anthem and Evolve eliminates them from this discussion. I had to look up the name of Battleborn, Gearbox's massive flop from 2016 as that game was such a miss from day one.

What they learned was "Don't publish anything with Square Enix".

I mean, by Platinum's standards this was phoned in stuff. Can't be a surprise to them surely.

Screams of mismanagement somewhere along the line and given that Squeenixs track record with new IP is shonky at best I'd hazard it's their fault. Just wild guess work.

Platinum have become quite disappointing with some of their releases after their first few. Transformers was ok but still not as good as is have hoped and the turtles was a similar deal. Quite formulaic some of their titles.
