Doom Eternal - iD Tech 7, Huge Maps, Invade Other Players' Campaigns

All they need to do is crank up the weapons sounds and add more enemy variety, and seeing as that teaser has the old style imp, the cacodemon, spiderdemon and arch-ville, at least one of them will be sorted :) also notice how Doomguy is sleeveless like the classic armour design.

Oh yeah and NO SODDING MULTIPLAYER NEEDING 50GB OF DOWNLOADS PLEASE!

Things I’d like to see in Doom 2:

·         More variety. There were some nice vistas in the first game, and hell looked pretty cool in places, but a lot of the game took place in generic metal corridors with lots of pipes. It’d be great if they mixed it up a bit.

·         More strategy. This is harder to do, but my one beef with the setup of Doom was that there wasn’t much sense of positioning of enemies, or the actual layout of an area. The player and the various enemies were so mobile and so fast that you just had to react to what was on screen at any moment, rather than actually think about what you were doing, or what approach to take – it felt like an enemy could just appear anywhere, so there was no point in considering where they were at any given moment, as they could just teleport to the other side of the arena. There were a few sections towards the end of the first game where you really had to think about the level, and it’d be nice if they could build on this a bit more.

·         Fewer cutscenes. The first game had this brilliant anti-narrative structure, where the protagonist would just smash up a screen as Dr Exposition was telling him his mission objective, but as the game progressed, that dropped away a bit and you had to endure sequences where you followed someone around while they explained the plot to you, or listened to a very long phone call from the baddie. This was particularly annoying when speedrunning a level. It’d be great if the plot was something that took place in the background and that you saw in the occasional flash, but was also something that didn’t get in the way of the speed and fury of the actual game. Or if there was an option for the player to listen to this shit if they’re really into it, but also to press a button to rip the video screen from its housing and break it over your knee.

I always liked the part in the first game when you come across some coolant tank or some shit and the voiceover guy says 'you need to carefully find the release mechanism' or something to that effect and doomguy just stomps on it till it breaks instead.

Hell on Earth should provide some excellent location variety. Ever since Fallout 3 I've always enjoyed skirmishes that take place in a supermarket

Really hope the enemies don't spawn in this time but that they return to the 'monster-closet' approach from the original games (and Doom 3 even). Makes the world feel less gamey but also allows to player to experiment and have some fun with unsuspecting demons.

Duke Nukem 3D is the original for fucking up monsters in everyday locations. Pretty sure that had a supermarket or a video shop or something.

Porn shop, supermarkets, cinemas, banks, movie sets, you name it and it was probably in there or referenced somewhere. Superb game.

Please let there be co-op

Yesssss. That would be fucking awesome.

The multiplayer is actually really really fun (I'm assuming they got the Bioshock 2 multiplayer team in?). It just needed co-op etc in the arcade mode.

I loved that stuff. There's only one part in the game where he seems remotely human and that's when he backs up the AI before turning it off. That's about as emotional as space marine who goes around killing demons should be.

Doom 2016 is my favourite sci-fi FPS since Halo CE.  I live the Doom series in general anyway and very hyped for the next one.  As long as the keep the frantic pace and don't go pedestrian I'll be happy.  i loved the movement of imps I love if they may us fight an Elite Imp which would provide a more tactical fight.
