Just tried this on the Series x, looks great but I can’t join any online sessions. Apparently this is a known bug lots of people are getting- it’s being worked on but no ETA for a fix as yet.

? I guess you haven't started from scratch? You cannot join any online stuff until you have done the initial introduction - which I think IIRC is a full cycle of all the seasons. Then to join any convoys etc you have to be at least level 20 I believe.

No, I’d already played some of the game ages ago on game pass. This is a known bug- you get the ‘unable to join session’ message. I googled it and loads of people have the same issue, and the Forza team have confirmed they’re working on it.

Yeah I've not been able to connect since the last update a week ago. Been playing solo ever since. If you raise a ticket, they reply saying it's a known issue and the mark the ticket as resolved. You then get an email saying "how did we do?" with a yes or no link and a feedback box, if you click either, you get a response saying "sorry, this ticket is now closed so you can't add anything further to it". That is sadly how Forza support has always been.

They’ve acknowledged it on Twitter too, not that it’s any better. Hopefully they’ll fix it sooner rather than later.

Just came here to ask if anyone else was unable to join online sessions, so it’s reassuring that it’s not just me and it’s a known issue.

Destiny aside, this has been by far my most played game since getting a Series X. It’s such a sumptuously polished and enjoyable experience and I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve suddenly realised that I’ve just been cruising the rural Cotswolds lanes of my childhood without any particular aim, just enjoying the scenery, the sublime driving model that’s pitched perfectly between arcade and sim and zoning out while my mind wanders. All to the sounds of Bach, Handel and Mozart of course. Perfect chillout game.

I bought Bamburgh Castle last night, as I wanted a quick achievement to finish off my daily points set before the Leeds match started.

So I think you should address me as M’Lord from now on.:eyebrows:

:) Still saving up for Edinburgh castle... 11m so far... not far off now... It would of course help if I played the game a bit more often....

I mean I've got Bamburgh and Edinburgh castles and every property in the game, so you can all call me Your Lordship Rees Mogg Rothschild Bezos the third.

I spent an hour or so on this today and I can’t think of anything I’d rather play, we are going through a rough time and while at times I feel guilty having fun due to some personal sadness I can just zone out and drive around and be lost in a familiar world!

Somehow I ended up doin the truck racing challenge and I bloody loved it, it was more fun racing the truck than I’ve had in Dirt 5.... and the prize is mental, drifting a truck around the outside of a transit in Scotland is silly fun of the highest order. I then set after some other seasonal challenges and my least favourite are the cross country with the set of vehicles on Solstice sea... after some shitty 5 places I decided to lower the AI but it was too easy so back upto highly skilled (and no rewind or TC) and I just got in the zone and smashed the series :)

I think this could be the perfect game for me, drop in and out of it and pick and choose what I do with lots of honing around in ridiculous vehicles

New update has just beamed its way to my Series X which seems to have fixed the ‘unable to connect’ issues. Matchmaking now working again for the co-op seasonal events too.

I’m still getting exactly the same error- did they manage to break it again already?? I was hoping it would be fixed by Christmas so I could play it over the break :(

That's odd. It's been working fine for me since the update, including earlier today.

Only slight annoyance that still remains is that if you use Quick Resume it doesn't update the daily seasonal challenges when you log back in again. It acts as if you were still on the day that you originally closed the game to the dashboard and the 'time remaining/time until active' will be the same as it was when you logged out. You have to close it down fully and log back in again for them to update. Hope they can fix that because until I figured out what was going on I missed out on a few as a result.

Been playing this almost exclusively for the past couple of weeks with my son and it’s really gelled.

Buying the ultimate pack really helped, the new locations bring a lot of freshness to the main locations. Loads more cars available which also help. Still useless at some challenges but appreciating the nuances between all cars more too. Playing more of the linear, structured missions helped loads as it broke away from the driving around looking for something to do element. The insurance person was particularly good, the dialogue was so funny.

The real star though has been the Lego element, it just works so well.

Well I got Fortune Island yesterday as it's only £5.99 at the moment and I think I actually prefer it to the Lego DLC. The terrain is just superb, I definitely prefer the off road style events, and the weather elements just make it even more fun. Drift Zones have an added element of difficulty due to the sheer drops and the Northern Lights just look spectacular.

I'm playing this on a One X with a 42 inch screen so I can only imagine how sexy this is on a Series X with 50 inches glaring back at you.

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a Series X at Christmas and this is the first thing I’ve jumped into on Game Pass. Really enjoying it, even though the icons on the map are a bit overwhelming.

Added a bunch of you from the last few pages with a gamer tag in your signatures, hope you don’t mind! First Xbox since the 360 so my friends list is barren...

I had a real downer about this a while back and even posted to that effect here. I then struggled to find a driving game I enjoyed more and other than gt sport which is obviously a different kettle of fish I had to get back into this so re bought a one x and am back loving it. I also bought FH3 before it got de listed as well and am glad I did and think I enjoy it even more.

Why did you go for a One X over one of the new consoles? I think I’d even rather take the resolution hit of the Series S for the fast loading times. It really is such a massive improvement.

Good question. I can hack waiting a few minutes for it to load, have a 4K tv and saved £100. I also wanted to play RDR2 in 4K and not 900p as well.

If you’re on a tight budget then fair enough and I suppose you won’t miss it if you’ve never experienced it, but don’t ever go round to a mate’s who’s got a Series console!

I won’t comment on RDR2, as my opinion on that is well known around here!
