I'm really enjoying ranked, just not having the radar makes it so much better, you both have to be more cautious about pushing into places because you don't know where the enemy is and you can be more reckless in just sprinting back to the objective knowing you won't show up on someone elses radar and be targeted. Also people there actually seem to play the objective, which is at least a balm while we can't choose not to play Oddball.

 

Also the Trueskill 2 thing seems really smart, I've not played any games with this in since I don't have an Xbox, but there's been plenty of games where we've been down a player or got stomped, but the system takes it into account and doesn't penalise your ranking.

AS pinhole star says, no. It's about the getting the least possible shots for that weapon, and it must all be shots that you have made, so you can't for example get it for getting a headshot on an enemy that a teammate has already taken the shield from.

Yeah they’re actually fairly easy to get during the course of normal play and I say that as someone who’s not that good at the game. If you’ve got the drop on someone and just pace your shots, making sure to hit the head for the final burst you’ll get it. Not as difficult as it sounds, honestly.

I played a match of Oddball last night, and one of our players not only had 0 carry time, he actually ran away from me when I got killed as the ball carrier. He ended the game with far and away the most kills, but unsurprisingly our team lost. That we got 1 even round out of the 3 speaks volumes for the other 2 players, even the worst on the other team managed 20 seconds with the ball.

 

The lack of Slayer annoyed me, so I set up a custom match of FFA Slayer. 7 bots on Marine difficulty was too easy, but 7 bots on ODST is just a touch too difficult. I kept on spawning in the sights of firefights, or would see the leader be on 3 kills before I'd even found anyone to shoot at. Best I managed was a 3rd place, which was actually quite far behind the lead. Looking for the sweet spot, I might have to drop to 3 bots on ODST and slowly add until I get some of my old sharpness back. Plus, lack of map knowledge at the moment. Anyone know of a good custom setup for this?

I ended up killing 2 more people with the ball before I was killed and dropped it - got an achievement for it too :lol:

 

Usually, when I play a ranked game, the game is full of players who are playing the objective but clearly not that case on that clip!

I've ended up turning down the look acceleration, which makes you slower to turn around but it's easier to aim. I'm not good enough to have everything really fast though.

 

I'm not settled either but a good idea is to move the sensitivities up or down by one point and play for a bit against bots, rather than jumping up a few points each time.
