I didn't see this conference, was there any mention of the Skate franchise? The servers for Skate 3 got turned back on a few days ago which led to rumours about it coming back in some form.

I’ll make sure I buy the £80 digital edition and then spend £150 or whatever on the tat edition with no game included, all for you SMD.

I’m shocked at how boring Anthem looked. I was excited for it, but it looks like a much slower and less dynamic Destiny. Jetpacks can’t save it.

But real talk, the conference was shit and nice to see that EA has learnt nothing from last year. 

Battlefield V looks great, but they’ve chopped up the reveals for other conferences, like single player in the MS one. 

The indie games look interesting. 

FIFAMADDENNBA couldn’t give a shit about. 

Star Wars title reveal was awkward and strange. 

Anthem looks cool and a bit more Monster Hunter or Borderlands, especially with its lack of PVP. I’m looking forwards to finding out more about it. They coulda done with fucking telling us more! 

C&C mobile reveal was fucking awful. Beyond awful.

The head of EA looks like someone who orders hits on folk. I loved the way he just couldn't quite get the words "I'm sorry for fucking you customers over with all the ingame purchases shit', and left if as "we're listening to you".

 

Fuck off you tool. Act like a human being and just say "sorry, we messed up".

 

It would have been an easy win for them.

 

But there we go, I wasn't exactly expecting it.

 

Aside from that one indie game (which looks decent enough, but it is what it is - fairly slight), it was a pretty awful show for me at least. 

Aside from some pretty nice visuals, Anthem just looked pretty average all 'round. Infact, I swear the gameplay visuals looked noticeably worse than the 'gameplay' stuff they showed last year.

Whilst playing Grim dawn I was watching the EA thing via Giantbomb on Twitch. Some nice indie stuff on show especially Unravel 2, absolutely loved the first, downloading the trial right now. There is a 7 day trial for EA access right now and really... there is a whole bunch of great stuff on there. Quite liked the look of Anthem but I'll let the masses decide if it's any good before I go near it. As for the rest... meh.

 

I know EA are shit but so are the rest of them, they are as bad as each other but please just give Unravel 1 and 2 a go, lovely wholesome stuff.

In fairness, I think the thing which most solidifies how terrible it was as a conference was that I'm excited about Battlefield, Anthem, SOS and Unravel 2 but still had an absolutely shit time watching their show. The battlefield section was ridiculously short, the Anthem gameplay was confusing and boring, and everything that involved a person speaking was cringey and awful.

I honestly think you could make an argument both ways - hopefully it doesn't end up as mattering.

 

At least it won't count for the open ended question, games shown with Star in their title!

Are you kidding? From that conference, you saw probably some of the biggest revenue generators of the next year or so. It could be 90 minutes of watching a turd slide down a wall, it wouldn't impact how many people buy their games.

Nail on the head. This was a conference for investors, not consumers. It’s the only reason I can conceive of that they’d be so tone deaf as to have not only a Command and Conquer mobile game, but one revealed via a live VS match with a fucking commentator.
