...or Alexios, he's good too. He has more presence and a big booming voice that makes him sound like he came from a 50's sword and sandal film.

Alexios sounds like a fucking imbecile every time he opens his mouth, the Incredible Hulk comes across more intelligently. And more presence than Kassandra? Are you for real??

I dunno about when you play as him, but in my Kassandra playthrough, Alexios' voice feels like comic relief.

I've watched my brother play as him, he sounds exactly the same: a knuckle-dragging moron.

Playing this at the moment, and seriously loving it.  I hyped myself up over the Division 2 and Sekiro, but ended up trying this when getting a new PC recently and have shelved all other games.  Quite surprising really, I didn't think it would grab me so much.

I love all the gameplay loops.  It just plays so well.  Combat is fun, but nuanced enough to elevate itself over previous AC games.  I think Origins was similar, but I didn't play that.

I've decided to go for an Assassin damage build, falling back to the sword when my sneaking plans go to shit :)  I like the engraving system, so I can compliment my gear with some warrior damage even though that's not my main focus.  I've just noticed that there seems to be an option to toggle between gear sets now.  Is that new?  I'm sure it's just appeared in the menu.  There was a big update (4gb) a couple of days ago.

Finding everything a challenge, but not too bad (on normal difficulty).  I had some problems with a boar in a clearing (mid fight he sends a whole load of his pig buddies after you!) but managed it after a couple of tries despite it being a bit of a slog.  After the first failure I invested in the ability that heals you, so that helped with the fight.  Otherwise I'm not having too much trouble sneaking my way around the bases, and sweeping up stragglers with the hero strike ability.

the only thing that could have made this better is if I'd unlocked the Spartan Kick to make it happen

but yeah, the map is yuge! Daunting even!

You need to practice your arrow shooting skills.

That poisonous sword looks useful, could you loot it off him?

I've been playing this on and off since launch and I absolutely love it. Just something so balling about rolling around Ancient Greece in a boat, infiltrating Spartan forts, kicking suckers off walkways and generally having the time of your life.

One thing I think is missing though is the ability to set your ship to auto sail while you walk about the deck/clamber up the mast. That's my only criticism.

I finished the main story and the cult deletion over the weekend and there is still hours of content left. It's been 70 hours well spent with Kassandra and chums, and whilst I did enjoy Origins this eclipses it in pretty much every way and has left me excited to see what they do next as it is going to be a hard job to top this.

I did over 100 hours in Origins. So, uh...  am I going to do more in this? So far so good!

Bounty Hunters though...

Easily if you do all the quests the game has to offer.

Should I hold out for a game of the year edition which includes all the DLC or just pick up the base game which seems to be on sale for around £20 now.

Assuming the DLC content is decent?

Grab the game now!! The game is fucking ginormous (and awesome). I never bothered with the DLC, and I understand it has some issued from a narrative standpoint.

Thanks, order placed. Amazon has offered me same day delivery?

Is that a thing! Wow! I'll be playing it this evening.

In my experience, it usually shows up just in time to wake your kid up and then take so long to install you can’t play it, anyway.

Let's talk damage types... Am I right in thinking that any damage during melee (apart from Hero Strike) will use warrior damage so it's pointless actually using a sword that buffs assassin damage?  There are two weapon slots obviously, so I'm thinking that having any weapon equipped that gives me the best assassin damage buff is key whilst sneaking, but that when my stealth goes to shit I should actually be using a sword that buffs warrior damage?

Also, is there any reason why I shouldn't swap all my gear out for warrior damage buffing gear for conquests?  Considering it's basically a melee battlefield at that point?

Standard melee damage scales off Warrior damage. However that doesn’t mean that it’s pointless using weapons with Assassin damage as it all contributes to the overall stat. When you’re relying on things like Hero Strike and other Assassin abilities that scale to that particular stat those additional percentages that your weapon slots will give you can make quite a difference.

I spec’d pretty much entirely for Assassin damage as even in face-to-face fights and conquest battles it was essentially a loop of building up adrenaline points and then using Hero Strike to finish them off as it’s so OP.

There’s no right or wrong way to spec your gear of course. One of the great things about those systems is that it gives you so much flexibility. I personally went down the ultra-specialised poison assassin route and it served me well throughout all 140 hours I played it on hard difficulty.

Picked this up in the sale on PSN this evening and... my it’s a bit tricky. Doing some cave near the beginning and getting rinsed. Ouch.

Beautiful game though, and once I get over the combat hump reckon this could be good.

so many caves, i think kefallonia is made of swiss cheese.

I play with the alt (classic) control scheme. Any opponent with a shield is a bit of a problem.

Played a couple of hours of this yesterday went with Kassandra, feels very similar to Origins to me. Combat is slightly different with the Parry command. Got my arse handed to me by the Elite dude wondering around the island, will take him on again when I've levelled up & got better loot.

I enjoyed Origins on my One X, still am, but just downloaded Odyssey for my PC, a lowly 1060 and my god it's a looker. It also plays better than Origins, in fact I'm hooked, it just feels like they have finally nailed it. And again it's only running at 1080p ultrawide but I have to say at max settings and with the aid of G-sync it puts Origins on my Xbox to shame. It looks photo realistic in places, even feel the HDR on my shady HDR monitor looks good. Is it another huge game like Origins though? I've played that for dozens of hours and only scratched the surface. I wish Ubi would streamline the quests as I don't think I'll ever complete either, and I like to complete games.

odyssey THROWS side-quests at you. Running through a town?

"hey, there's a quest nearby, press = to track it"

Yeah, not now, I've got a sliver of health, and there's 6 guys chasing me!
