‘Fuck have you been doing?!!!

I’d cleared the whole story and picked up every ability and weapon in less than 15.

I'm at 21 hours now. Been doing every '?' that pops up, and having a good wander about.

Now down to £26 in cdkeys - probably will hit £20 before the end of the month

But obviously I already folded and bought it for £27 on Saturday because I'm an idiot and wanted it.

But no regrets it so far - runs lovely at high settings on my 1060 GTX laptop and no sign of the bugs reported in my first 5 hours with the game.

Just did a really neat little dungeon type affair leading to a massive mutant boss.

Shooting is amazing, driving perfectly serviceable and looks like there is a lot to do.  Despite the marketing being all neon the game actually looks and feels pretty close to the first game.

I'm massively enjoying it so far.

I don't think I can be bothered with the Open World Icon Busywork™ to unlock the more interesting combat abilities. Such a boring world and I feel like I've had my fill of all The Few Variants Of Icon Things To Do® after about 6 hours play.

Turns out Avalanche made a PC game that needs me to literally unplug my second monitor in order to play

Odd. I have two monitors connected and have no issue (one HDMI and one D-port).

@MK-1601 You'll be happy to know I played with my mouse and keyboard last night.

Are they both the same rez? One of mine is 1080p and the other is 4k.

The issue I am having is MSI afterburner OSD only shows up on my 4k monitor. Not really a huge deal, but I like to optimise frames when I play 1080p and it's difficult without a precise indicator of what is good to lower for performance.

This is great, can't figure out the hate so far although I'm only a few hours in. Sort of like if Far Cry and Doom had a baby,

Possibly not the AAA experience people were hoping for but I'll sure as shit get £26 worth of enjoyment out of it.

Looks great on on 1660ti PC too

Has anyone else encountered the bug with the difficulty defaulting to Easy each time you load the game? I thought it seemed like a total breeze so far and I'm guessing that's why, I hadn't really bothered looking for other weapons beyond the shotgun as it was just one or two shotting everything. It made the upgrades to health etc. seem pointless too, I can't remember my health going below 50 never mind actually getting killed and needing the cardiac shock skill. I've not been able to test it yet but apparently the fix is to do with changing the difficulty to easy then back to normal/hard and has to be done every time you load the game.

This is the best FPS I’ve played since Titanfall 2 - ticking off the things to do with a Spotify playlist and Danny Dyer’s chat is my bag, and I don’t care who knows it.

You can get some epic chains going, the Bulletstorm really comes out as the abilities unlock.

Cheers I'll keep looking! Getting the Icarus really removes a lot of the frustrations of driving around, you can cross the entire map in no time so doing a sweep to pick up all the extra locations is much easier. I'm avoiding moving ahead with the main story missions until I've unlocked the last few abilities, giving them out so sparsely seems like such a weird decision. Once they're unlocked and the difficulty is bumped right up it starts to feel much more like the open-world Bulletstorm I was hoping for and I suspect the original intention was to pack this thing to the ceiling with microtransactions, especially for the blue Feltrite.

I've been following this closely and reading all of your comments and I'm still so unsure wether to buy it, it's seems really Marmite, some people are loving it, some hate it.

I'd be buying the PC version, so people's issues of how it looks wouldn't be a problem, the main issue is I don't want to burn out on this sort of game with Borderlands a few months away.

I'm tempted to just get it if it's £27 at CD Keys

It's now £19.49 at CD keys.

That price is plummeting. Any idea what the sales figures were like?

Worth remembering that those cheaper keys are for the Bethesda store, I wasn't going near that thing. I refunded the game at £30 just to avoid having that shit-heap installed, £40 on Steam is probably too much for such a polarising game if you aren't sure but it'll definitely come down in price fast.

Really enjoying this. Only played for a couple of hours but unless it takes a massive dive in quality then I'm quite surprised with the pretty negative reviews from the media et al.

When it's really kicking off it's crazy fun.

Looks sweet as well.

Do the main missions for Marshall and you should get it within the first or second one 8-)  I honestly had to force myself to use other weapons at first because I loved it so much

I unlocked the shotgun and suddenly I'm having a blast with this. Yes, generic as fuck and by the numbers, and I'm paying zero attention to the story (which is very unlike me), but man with the shotgun and a few choice abilities in tow it's a perfect turn your mind of for a quick fun blast session kind of game. Just charging in like a lunatic and the shotgun literally sending fools flying.

It's probably been mentioned earlier on in the thread or something but I'm enjoying it much more on the harder difficulty than normal. I only played normal for around 30 minutes but everyone was going down far too easily and it felt pretty lame in firefights. Much more fun on the harder setting and fights feel more visceral due to it.

Of course that's subject to change the further I get and the enemies become harder anyway.

Turns out I was looking for the Wasteland Wizard for nothing, Danny Dyer can be switched on straight away in the options menu. I suspect constantly hearing Mick Carter is going to get annoying but for the minute it's funny just because of how ludicrous it sounds.

The Icarus is great for getting around the map but it is a rather dull mode of transport. You can’t dive and climb like in a place, there’s almost no chance of hitting anything and no one shoots at you. It’s about as involving as fast travel but with interactive slow loading.

That's the main campaign finished after putting 24 hours into the whole thing. I can see why some people were really disappointed, if you just went for the main missions it'd be over in about 6 hours. I watched Skill-Up's review and noticed that he'd only unlocked one ability and used a couple of weapons right at the end which meant he didn't go looking for the Arks. They really should have had all of those part of the main missions, the game is just nowhere near as good until you're stringing moves together into combos on high difficulty. If I was to play it again I'd probably put it on Nightmare difficulty since once I'd unlocked all the weapons none of the enemies or even bosses were any real threat. I'll probably not be trying to finish up the rest of the map but I'll definitely go back and play through any DLC they add, the patch coming next week should have come a lot sooner as things like the laggy menu as a constant really detracted from the game.

One thing it really has done too is made me even more excited for Doom Eternal, if iD can take that amazing combat and have it constant with more varied areas and enemies it's going to be a seriously special game. I've no reason at all to think this isn't exactly what they're going to do.
