The game's up for pre-order at Play-Asia now, but just the regular edition. Not the pretty one with the beautiful joy cons I desperately want/need.

£44.24

£60 with import duty and shipping!!

How likely is it that I’ll be able to pick this up more cheaply from eBay?

You can just get this digitally off the Japanese eShop surely?

It's those Joy-con's and defo the Drums that I want.

So buying this, not even worth discussing. I unfortunately gave my donkey konga drums away and who doesn't love some insane drumming action while you're approaching 40?

They just need to make a switch version of that table flip arcade game as well just for extra silly peripherals.

I’m all over this and those joy-con, and I’m 50* in a week.

* Going on 25. :blah:

Does it have an English option then?

The PS4 game had an English version released (Japanese only in Japan, but English a “rest of Asia” version), so hopefully. Probably not going to be too heavy on text though, so I’m sure someone could produce a simple guide. I managed to navigate an arcade machine version without knowing a word of the language!

The drum controller is up for preorder on play-Asia. It’s limited to one per person.

The game plus controller plus shipping etc comes to £130!! Will be giving it a miss at that price :(

English day-one patch announce for the Southeast Asian release. 9th August.

This'll be the one for me. Imagine it'll be cheaper for me to import from HK to China than from Japan, so it's all good.

Every one talking about importing the game...

But is it still not the case that buying off the eShop in other regions is the easiest thing?

If I were living in the UK I'd probably go that route. Cheaper to just import a copy from Hong Kong to China for me, though, and I also have a little group of Switch-owning friends here that all swap games.

Heading to the West?

taiko-rating.png

As we know, Taiko Drum Master Switch will already be offered in English, but not in the traditional sense. The game will be sold with an English interface in Southeastern Asian markets, and English text will be patched in on August 9.

Last month though, Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum ‘N’ Fun! was rated in Australia. The Switch is also listed specifically as the platform. There aren’t any other titles in the series on Nintendo’s console. Localizing it as Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum ‘N’ Fun! would certainly make sense.

That'd be awesome!

Meant to say but you can download a demo on the JPN store. It felt (to me) just a tiny bit laggy, unfortunately. I've had the Joycon issues since day one, though, just never bothered getting them fixed because I don't use them outside handheld. Might be part of it but anyway I went from day one to day none.

Wow - it's a demo - pretty sure that will be sorted before launch?

Either way this getting a UK release would be great.

Well, there's not really anything else to the game besides the fundamental drumming mechanics and if they haven't got that right for the demo, I'm just less confident that it's possible to get it tight enough over BT.

Did you run the TV calibration in the settings? I found it much better after that.

I'm tempted by the drum but will hold out for a while and see if it gets discounted here later.

Probably just a matter of practice to get the technique, but using the joy cons to drum at thin air really isn’t working for me. Registers the wrong sort of hit far too frequently, and also loads of false hits (often thinks I’ve drummed again when lifting the imaginary stick up again after doing a hit). The joy con aspect is a novelty which doesn’t really work based on my preliminary findings, so it needs be drum controller or nothing for me (never got into button mashing on a standard controller for rhythm games!).
