I just got this the other day (hey I'm slow, but it cost me a nominal fee).

Oh my god! How good is the death star attack!

I think the deathstar attack is actually one of the weaker levels. Prisoners of the Maw and Imperial academy heist are also pretty poor.

Loved the game though. Completed it with ALL GOLDS. Took me ages and was bloomin hard. Well worth it though. Fantastic game even though its very shallow.

As has been mentioned, just you wait for Endor......

Is this the good 2nd one or the bad 3rd one? I forget the names

Second, Rebel Strike is the third one, which isn't as bad as many make out.

If they took the time there is a great AT-ST game to be made, the Endor level with that in RS was amazing in my opinion.

I love the Star Warsness of Rogue Leader. But if all the recognisable locations and ships were replaced with a (non-Star Wars related) new set of designs and lore to follow then I wouldn't give it the time of day. If you see what I mean.

Death Star runs and Hoth battles are ace, but when I don't feel like I'm actually re-enacting the film (ie. a lot of the other missions), I don't really enjoy it. Usually I'm not so shallow, but I can't help it with this game!

This was the fits game I saw running on a newly imported gamecube. Took everything out of the nice wrapping and put this on - blew us away.

The game itself is fun in places, it's obviously shallow - but it is just a shooter so that's no problem. The difficulty spikes all over the place though. I've never got through the battle for Endor. Mucho respect for anyone doing this with golds

Worth it for £20, would you say?

I would say so.

The flight missions are still good, as are the new AT-ST levels. The speeder bike stuff is hit and miss, and the on foot parts are not great either. For me the inclusion of co-op Rogue Leader and the two old arcade games makes it well worth £20.

I'm a typical born-in the early-70s Star Wars fanboy, however I think Rogue Leader is a complete pile of unplayable crap. Whoever it was who said it wouldn't be given the time of day if it wasn't Star Wars is right on the money.

But it is Star Wars, that's the whole bloody point. It lets you live out the best bits of the three good movies in fantastic graphical detail and wonderful surround sound. It's shallow, noisy and over way too soon, just like the movies, and for that it's very entertaining. I thought that's what a good game was supposed to be.

I could always keep the medical frigate alive but the second star destryer would always kill me. Then I'd restart. And repeat.

I did this mission first time out ;) The only surprising thing about it is the Star Destroyers are harder to take down, i.e. they need more hits, than the one you meet earlier in the game. But it's still a pretty simple mission.

For me that wasn't enough. A game needs more than Star Wars graphics and sound to entertain me.

I found it quite enjoyable, but there seemed to be no skill involved in not getting blown up. I mean, is there actually any way to avoid getting pelted by laser fire up the arse other than swerving out in a completely different direction (and perhaps then flying into a wall)?

Also, the controls in space were a bit iffy... centred Y-axis - in space? Yeah alright then.

There have been much heavier SW games in the past and most people seem to have loved them. Not my cup of tea though. All I ever wanted to do was blow up the Death Star et al, and this game delivers those movie thrills in spades. It's the spiritual successor to Atari's 1982 coin op effort, the only game IMO that's come close since then to capturing the essence of the movies.

It's the one game I'm really shit at. Just couldn't get my grappling hook to stick to the legs of those AT-STs. Not a big Star Wars fan either though, so I didn't spend ages trying. It did look good though.

<nerd>

But the grappling hooks will only stick to the legs of the AT-ATs, not the AT-STs.

I'm quite enjoying Rebel Strike btw... the flying levels are as good as and sometimes better than those in Rogue Leader. I also loved the level where you had to take out the laser using an AT-ST. Endor Speeder Bike level is hard as hell and Yoda's Jedi Training level is no where near as bad as folks make out.

I think the problem is that Rebel Strike itself starts very poorly. The first mission isn't particularly good and the on foot section is terrible... I reckon it leaves a foul taste in peoples mouths. If you get over this first hurdle, you should find the rest of the game enjoyable.

oh, it is. it's unspeakably bad. and there's a bit in the training mission with a camera so bad I nearly gave up then.

Rebel Strike's a return to the bad old days as far as I'm concerned. I never liked Rogue Squadron, too many made up missions.

Hmmm... I finished Yoda's training level in about 5 minutes. It was a mere aside as far as I was concerned.

Now.. granted, they should have left the on foot sections out of the game entirely. However, the flying missions and the AT-ST missions, imho, make the game good enough to spend 20 quid on.

I got a silver medal on that level at the first attempt. In fact I was only a couple of seconds away from Gold.

It's a bad level, but it's easy and can be done in a couple of minutes.

I'd only pay a tenner personally, I don't multiplay enough and that's the only reason I have for wanting it (I rented it when it came out and finished it).

I really like the first mission (until you land, of course). It's gorgeous.

If you liked the first two Rogue Squadron, Rebel Strike is easily worth £20. Some of the missions (Relics of Geonosis, Attack on the Executor) are amazing. It complements Rogue Leader perfectly.

The AT-ST Endor level is as close as you'll ever get to feeling as though you're actually in ROTJ.

Rogue Leader would be THE SW game, if not for the trial and error, the lack of multiplayer, and some missions we DO get in Rebel Strike. Like the Speeder level.

I loved Rogue Leader. Got 9 Golds.

Did anyone do/finish Endurance?

Never finished it, got bored. It was very hard on the eyes too, the TIEs were even darker than in the main game.
