We also have an important service update to share. Starting next year on 8th March 2019, the PS Plus monthly games line-up will focus on PS4 titles and no longer include PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles.

This won’t affect any games you’ve already downloaded, or will download, prior to 8th March 2019. Those games will still be part of your PS Plus games library as long as you remain a member.

Your game saves and other benefits of PS Plus will also remain the same – the only change is that no new PS3 and PS Vita games will be added to the PS Plus monthly games line-up beyond 8th March 2019.

Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritise the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, PS4 monthly games, online game save storage and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services.

As a reminder, if you do not wish to continue your subscription, please be sure to cancel it by turning off auto-renewal in your account settings before 8th March 2019.

There are plenty of new games and exclusive PS Store discounts for PS Plus members to come, and we can’t wait to share these with you in our ongoing monthly blog posts.

Seems fair to be honest, 2019 is a good heads up and hopefully they'll be gearing up for the PS5 announcement (with full PS4 backwards compatibility you monsters)

I wonder if this means they're gonna shut the PS3 servers down next year.

A years notice is about right. If there's any PS3/Vita owners who have just renewed their subscription, they'd be pissed if it was cancelled sooner.

Haven't they given away everything on the Vita (apart from P4G) anyway?

Nah, just looking through my collection, there's the Danganronpa games, MGS Collection, Disgaea, FFX/X2, Earth Defense Force, Odin Sphere, Steins Gate, Katamari, Trails Of Cold Steel and Project Diva.

I wasn't being serious (but pretty sure MGS was on it?)

I would be happy if they gave me a pill that made me forget the ps3 ever happened to be honest so couldn’t care less about them dropping games for that awful machine - good old Sony dropping the news along side a banger of a month for games tho, they can’t help themselves can they!

However I will  always have a soft spot for the Vita despite the poor hardware as it really opened up the world of indie titles to me and of course ps plus was a big part of that, it’s not used at all these days but it was a great ride while it lasted so bravo to Sony for that and the year notice is pretty generous as it gives everyone time to trade in for a Switch

Uhm, you do realize they're just talking about free games with PS+ support here.

You what, you mean they are still manufacturing  the ps3 and vita :o

  Reveal hidden contents

Of course I do, I even mention ps+ games in my post

I did see that the Japanese sales of the Vita are roughly the same as the Pro, this month at least.

Ps3 isn't so bad. Mine plays Netflix, Amazon video, and bluray discs, and the old Bluetooth remote still works, even if it's the dumbest design ever with all buttons turning the console on and none of them turning it off.

Seemed pretty reasonable that they are giving a year. Ps+ is surely going to be rather barren at that point though.

That awful machine which gave us Uncharted, The Last of Us, Demon's Souls

I think it is good news tbh though. Dropping support for those consoles means more concentrated support on PS4.

They've been shutting down a huge chunk of PS3 servers in the last 6 months already. Which is good news. It means PSN name changes are finally coming.

Polygon contacted them and they were told the service will just be switching to two free PS4 games.

Two is pretty low I'd expect they will at least match the four games with gold get by adding some smaller indie titles.
