What We Do in the Shadows - TV version

It was mentioned in the movie thread a while ago, but there's some more concrete plans coming together for the TV version now. Clement and Waititi are both involved, with Clement writing and Waititi directing. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen have been cast. Just a pilot order for now.

I'm getting pretty sick of the endless TV versions of films that are appearing these days, but at least in this case the film felt like an episode of a series anyway.

Slightly off-topic, but the sequel is a hot topic at work, where I have a long-running disagreement about how to pronounce werewolf. In WWDITS it rhymes with 'swear wolf', which is how my enemy pronounces it, which was a great source of disappointment to me. But the sequel is called We're Wolves, which is how it should be pronounced. So they've cleverly played both sides of this passionate debate. Maybe in the TV show they'll get off the fence and do the right thing.

I actually thought Wellington Paranormal was the WWDITS TV spin off I'd been expecting so seeing this bumped and being reminded that an actual TV series is still incoming is a real bonus, especially as it seems like it'll be years until We're Wolves.

first ep is now "out there" - loved it - they reuse one or two of jokes from the movie but there is also some great new ones.  And the vampire ensemble work well while not stepping on the toes of the original movie vampire house mates.

Shame the new Shadow is set in the States, otherwise a Wellington Paranormal crossover would be epic.

Did Wellington Paranormal get better as the series went on? I loved What We Do In The Shadows (the movie) but barely raised a smirk at episode one of Wellington.

Some episodes are better but its more of the same and I loved it. The only negative was the budget really for the FX.

Really enjoying this. The energy vampire is one of those "kinda cringy but really funny" characters. 

 

The bit with the racoons in the second episode was proper laugh out loud funny...

Just watched this weeks eps and for me its the best yet (and the rest have been hilarious)  its our  vamp household vs the Stanton island werewolves!   Plus Colin once again nearly steals the show

If it's the dark bidding joke they can use that again all they like because it's probably the best joke in cinema.

They've renewed it for a second season. They said it's been in the top 5 cable comedies of the year, out of 34.

well deserved this has been one of the funniest shows ive seen in ages captures the essence of the movie but moving on with its own story - i cant help to laugh at Matt Berry every time he transforms into bat by yelling "BBBBAAAATTTTTTT" in typical Matt Berry fashion
