Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is down to £20.45.

I'm tempted, but then I haven't completed the main trilogy yet. Do they include any QoL stuff in these games compared with the originals, like being able to save whenever, and not having to restart big sections if you muck up?

Does anyone know if we're due a good sale soon? I got some eShop vouchers for my birthday. Want to pick up either Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2 or Dragon Quest XI, but they're currently all full price and not on sale very often.

Big sale coming this Thursday!

“More than 1000 games discounted”

Thats true at the moment though. In fact, it’s been true almost constantly for months.

Monster Hunter Generations is on sale for £13 - how is that going to play for someone who started with World and Rise?

I did have MH3 on the Wii U, but basically didn't really put the time in to learn it. I reckon I'd fair a bit better now, as long as Generations isn't completely archaic. I can take it feeling a bit more obtuse and less hand-holdy; I don't really want it to feel like a PS2 game. The main issue is probably going to be how slow and cumbersome the game might feel after Rose's wirebugs and doggo.

No, but this one does 10% off too: https://switchup.gg/en/

code is SWITCHUP

Its the same company as the Nintendolife one, just a different homepage, all the sites are by Famehype. I used them for a £75 code and got it instantly.

Cheers, do I need to sign up all over again or does it share info?

There was a demo available but oddly I can't see it in the eshop now, but I can redownload it so I didn't imagine it! The 3DS demo is still visible if you have a 3DS which may give you some idea on how it plays if you have a 3DS.

I played it a bit after World and it didn't really click for me, I think it was the loading screens between areas which bugged me the most.

I’ve gone this long without playing a Pikmin game, I’ll bite at £33.

Yep, me too. A good one to play with the boy, I reckon. I completed it on the Wii U and remember thinking it was lovely.

Dragon Quest XI is down to £25. I'm sorely tempted to try it for the third time with the hope it'll at last click.

Olli Olli World is £20, too.

Hmm.

I see Bloodroots is on sale, anyone have any thoughts on the game? Looking for a not so challenging game to pick up in this sale and had this on my watch list for ages ago.

It's on Game Pass, if you have that.

I got about halfway through it playing on the Xbox One, I thought it was alright and I had some fun with it but I found a few issues with it. Nominally it is a bit like Hotline Miami in that you are trying to chain together a series of kills to clear out an area of enemies before you can move on, the big differences being the wide range of weaponry and the fact is has an isometric view rather than top down. When it all clicks it really is great to chain together a run and it is good for something to pick up, do a couple of levels and then put down again. I had some issues with the camera view, whereas you can be much more precise with Hotline Miami's top-down view as you know where things are relative to you I had some very frustrating deaths where I didn't quite land where I thought I would. There are some platforming bits in the game that felt a bit out of place and I was glad when I got through them. Likewise I had some issues where it didn't quite control as I expected, especially when transferring from and picking up weapons which was very frustrating. I also found it quite a challenging game and I was only up to the halfway point, definitely had a harder time than I did with Hotline Miami.

Hope that is of some help to you.

Thanks for the details and opinion on the gameplay and difficulty level. Think I'll look for something else in the current sale, maybe Knightin+ or The Last Campfire.

Cheers.

Huntdown (currently on sale) is supposed to be superb if that maybe works for you :)

I do like Bloodroots, but in terms of challenge it's one of those die, quick restart, repeat type games, where you keep hammering away at each level until you put together a clean run. The camera does rob it of some precision, which isn't ideal for this sort of thing. But it's often great fun regardless, mainly thanks to the sheer variety of weapons.
