Brilliant, look forward to seeing what the fuss is about.

Also picked up Curious Expedition for a few quid + gold points after reading a (your?) review on your site. Only had a couple of hours with it so far but it's a lot of fun. A seemingly good run can unravel brilliantly quickly.

Yeah I really like it. Had a couple of runs end before I even get going, despite thinking I had a good setup. Others where I have scraped through parts by the skin of my teeth then fell apart soon after.

There’s too many moving parts to ascertain what to do just by looking, which means just moving things around until you happen to solve a level. Coupled with a bad camera and unintuitive controls (zr to change character on some levels, parts of a trombone on others).

yeah i mean i finished it and quite liked it but still agree with this, it (Kine) has it's problems.

i got Conduct Together in the sale for ~90p - only done a few levels, it seems fun but also potentially infuriating, press the wrong button at the end and a train explodes and you have to start all over again.

conduct together is a lot easier to play touch in handheld mode - the buttons for switching tracks & stopping trains is just too much to take in when things get even moderately busy.

Has anyone completed Gato Roboto?

I’m past the ‘point of no return’ and I’m stuck at this room:

The jump-spin jump combo isn’t high enough to get to the ledge at the top left once the blocks have been blasted out the way.

All the guides/play throughs have got all the cartridges and traded them in for an ability that allows for infinite spin jumps. But I haven’t got that as I thought they were entirely optional and just for cosmetics.

Have I missed something or is the game irrevocably fucked?

Right, what the fuck are these extra settings in Rise? Stability? Is that why I got knocked arsehole backwards on the first race like 4 times? Also had to knock the rumble down because Jesus Christ.

Broadly speaking: Stability refers to how slide-happy and loose the back end of your car is. Steering Sensitivity is how twitchy the front end is.

Those options got added to the game in a patch and I think they’re a mistake, they don’t belong in an arcade racer. To start with I would definitely take the Steering Sensitivity down about three notches. I’d then play around with Stability to see what you like. You’ll probably look to increase it close to max later on as your skill at implementing drifts increases.

Getting hit by the other cars is the single biggest problem with Rise. The physics engine is uncompromisingly consistent and slight nudges to a back corner of a car (especially if it has low stability) will send it into a spin. It’s the Dark Souls of arcade racers when you’re learning it.

The AI will try to overtake at any opportunity they get but if you keep tight to the inside of a corner they will dutifully stay behind you. If you start wide and swing in though then they may see the gap and go for it. Once they’ve made the decision to go, they don’t back out.

Bought Good Job! this morning. It’s a lot of fun so far, but I bet it’s excellent in co-op.

My wife and I have been playing this in co op since it was released - it‘s fantastic. It’s funny, full of variety, and has lots of lovely little touches to discover. Really great game, and highly recommended.

So One Step from Eden really is great.

Shame it seems to be labelled as 'too hard' by a lot of places. There's a learning curve, yes. But you should be getting new cards and artefacts from each run which soon adds up.

Yep, it takes a while to get into, but it clicks and just gets better and better. Hell of a game.

I couldn't really get into it until I unlocked the alternative loadout for the starting character. And even after unlocking the other characters, that's still the only one I've ever got to the final boss with. I know how it all works now and have all the card unlocks, but I still struggle with the speed of it.

Fell Seal is £14 just now. It's a really nice, polished and well designed tactical rpg (like final fantasy tactics or tactics ogre). They've modernised some parts of the genre in a very clever way - for example there's no need to buy loads of healing items etc, you always have them but just have a set number of uses each battle Really beautiful-looking game too.

Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a good turn based tactics game.

Got to admit I'm regretting buying it now. And I'll also admit I've not played it much but if from three races I'm regretting it because I have to fuck about with fucking stability of the car settings and turn off fucking auto break (sic) then there's a problem.

I'll try it again when I'm feeling more tolerant towards it.

Yeah, I agree with this. An arcade racer should be easily accessible and it just isn't. Partly that's because of the small development team and partly because the handling model is surprisingly deep for the genre.

I likened it to Dark Souls and that's not being facetious. It doesn't hold your hand, has a steep learning curve and can ruin a race in split second from something that wasn't your fault. But Dark Souls can get away with this because it's quite explicit how it's going to work. Whereas these things are an anathema to arcade racers.

Is there a way to obtain Mexican eshop credit easily? Two Point Hospital is currently just over a tenner, which is a third of the UK price.

No, you'd need to have a US PP account setup to use the Mexican eShop. If you have that, then you can either region switch or setup a Mexico account to buy from.

Exactly, in an arcade racer you should lose the old fashioned way, by people blasting by you on the last straight thanks to rubber banding with you being completely helpless to stop them!

Nice ta.  Wish I'd got Odyssey last time tbh.
