Gotters

Recommended Posts

I bought Rise: Race to the Future, VOEZ and Assault Android Cactus in the end. They are all very agreeable.

(I've actually already got Cactus on the PS4 but it's very good and you all should buy it too)

My other sale recommendation would be VA-11 HALL-A. A lovely visual novel that's in part about booze, which I imagine would be rather timely for most of us.

I've played about half an hour. Initially it does seem very cheaply put together (outside of the actual races themselves) but I really enjoyed it and want to play more. I'll no doubt play a fair bit over the weekend so will give a more informed opinion once I can.

Is Rise actually good then? It's above impulse purchase for me but I'm a bit bored of the f2p limitations on Asphalt 9.

I'm holding out for Burnout Paradise for this very reason. Have they actually announced a date for it yet?

I bought Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection on sale for £27.99. I've started Black Flag and it runs incredibly well in handheld. It looks fantastic. Docked is good, too.

I put a decent amount of time into the game at the PS4's launch but never finished it. Plus, the added bonus of Rogue, which I have not yet played.

Rogue is excellent. It's old style Assassin's Creed, but it's easily one of the better ones. It condenses a lot of chaff and it makes for a much better experience.

The credits have just two names on it. As a result it doesn’t have any of the flair or pizzazz  that a top draw arcade racer should have.

On the other hand, it does have the most rock solid frame rate I’ve ever seen in a racing game, a physics engine that allows for some truly outrageous power drifting (that you have to put a lot of effort into learning how to pull off) and an innovative boost system that is the best enhancement to the genre since Burnout 2.

It’s flawed, but absolutely bloody wonderful.

Windjammers is fucking sick. Bought it an hour ago and it’s an instant local multiplayer classic in my household.

It’s 60% off in the sale, check it out.

It's just the bestest game, having that and Neo Turf Masters/Big Tournament Golf on one machine makes me so very happy.

I'd been holding off on Windjammers too, no excuse now :)

Yeah, I've spent some more time on Rise today and it's good fun! Reminds me a bit of Hydro Thunder Hurricane and the Challenge mode is nicely put together.

The lack of polish does appear everywhere (menus are fairly dreadful, it doesn't explain itself very well and the music is pretty poor) but the actual driving is excellent. And as you say, the boost system is rather smart.

I did what none of us should ever do and pre-ordered a game based on the eshop page alone: In Other Waters. The art grabbed me, then the write up sold me. Sounds like you're a 2D deep-sea-diving Darwin mapping an alien ocean and researching its lifeforms using HUD-focussed biology tools. Might be awesome, might suck, but it's almost worth it already for the gorgeous Switch icon. It's like the cover of one of those SF Masterworks paperback novels:

My review for this will be up on Tuesday, but I will say now it is a special experience.

Are you not able to buy eShop games unless there's a Switch tied to the account?

Quote

So, this may be obvious to many of you; but I have only very recently have become aware of this method, in the last couple of hours, and so others may not be aware also.
So please don't just beat on me for being late to the party, just trying to make sure nobody else is missing out on taking advantage of these great deals!

So I'll just go over everything I've learned and if I miss anything, please cover this in the below comments!

The Nintendo eShop has different prices for different regions.
Some places it costs more for the same game than others, this could be for various reasons including but not limited to, different wages for poorer countries.
To view the prices for each game across all regions you can use a site such as (eshop-prices.com).

Once you have found a game in the region you want, you can change your Nintendo account to that region in just a few clicks by going over to (accounts.nintendo.com) clicking on 'Profile' selecting the region you wish to be under and save those changes.
[NOTE / WARNING: SOME eShop stores will not work with this method, Mexico is definitely one of them. Might be worth checking before putting money into Revolut.]

Once you are on the region of your chosing, open the eShop on your Switch and you will be prompted to relog into the device following a change to your account.
Once logged on, navigate to the game you wish to buy, and there you will see it at the lower price point requested.
Then you can just purchase said game at the discount.
Now, if you purchase using paypal be aware there WILL be additional fees displayed here (paypal.com/uk/…ees)

If you wish to get around those fees, one of the most popular methods is by using 'Revolut'
Revolut is an app you can get for your phone which does not charge currency conversion fees just exchanges at the rate in which those currencies are now worth.
To download Revolut go to (Revolut.com/get) on your smart device.

Once all set up with a payment method, purchase the game and then change your region back to where you live (Presumably the UK due to you reading this.) [The UK is listed directly under 'Gabon' in the list]
JOB DONE
Questions I had - "Are my games tied to X eShop OR are they tied to my account?" - My account, you can download them from the eShop using your account, no matter which region and you wont need to re-swap back to redownload

ANOTHER IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE - All 'Gold coins' you earn from your purchases ARE locked to the eShop they were gained at. (i.e. I buy a game from the Italian store, then change to my UK store again, those coins will not show up as existing for use UNLESS used on another purchase in the Italian store)

Picked up Mark of the Ninja in the sale - been on my list for aaaages.

Also finally took the plunge with La-Mulana. The threads here kind of died a death but does anyone know of a community for it worth paying attention too? Not for solutions and spoilers, just for general chat and war stories.
