How are people playing these Picross games on Switch?

Sounds like a stupid question but I'm very used to now playing with a stylus and not sure what I would do on the Switch. Is there a type of stylus that should be used?

You should use the d-pad and buttons with all picross games because that is the correct way.

Just seen this review for Murder By Numbers. It is spoiler free:

He gave it a score of 9/10. In the video comments he replies to a query about the length and states:

'20 hours for myself, but honestly it could take longer or much less. Depends how much your rush through the dialogue (Which there is a lot) and how good you are at the puzzles.'

Hype levels are rising :)

A few more reviews for Murder By Numbers have appeared:

HardCoreGamer - 3.5/5

Closing Comments:

Murder by Numbers is a game for people who enjoy playing nonogram/Picross puzzles. If you have no enjoyment for these then the game will be an absolute nightmare. On the other hand, anyone who loves these puzzles will find a ton packed in the game with the addition of an enjoyable storyline told throughout to bring context to the puzzles. With so many puzzles included, you’ll have hours upon hours of gameplay ahead. The colorful characters and detective tale ensure that players won’t get bored with the world of Murder by Numbers.

NintendoWorldReport - 9.5/10

Summary:

Pros

Bonus puzzles outside of main game

Excellent soundtrack and character design

Great Picross tutorial

Picross mixed with Ace Attorney

Well-written mysteries and dialog

Cons

Limited replayability

NintendoTimes - 10/10

Final Thoughts: OUTSTANDING

Murder By Numbers combines Picross puzzle solving with graphic novel gameplay and completely nails the experience thanks to its hilarious writing, endearing characters, awesome visuals, and stellar soundtrack. Fans of either genre should fall in love with this game, and newcomers will find a game that’s approachable and addicting.

NoisyPixel - 8.5/10

Murder by Numbers blends visual novel storytelling and unique puzzle design to create an excellent detective adventure. Getting through the steady increase of challenging puzzles was fueled by the desire to crack the case and learn more about the relationships within the story.

Detective fans will enjoy how much interaction there is with the game, but the linear story leaves little room for any real consequences. Although it has a slow start, Murder by Numbers picks up speed with the help of the charming relationship between Honor and SCOUT and their determination to solve this mystery.

Not going to break embargo and wait until 4PM to post my review. But I think safe to say the following now.

IT'S REALLY BLOODY GOOD!!!!

The light investigation and questioning doesn't fight for attention and balances wonderfully with the actual picross. I am infatuated with this game.

Tried Stardew Valley in the end. Wish I hadn’t. It’s one of those games that causes sharp anxiety and makes me wonder why I even still bother with gaming as a hobby. Oh well, it was only 11 quid, I guess. :(

I really wanted to like Stardew Valley.

Really appreciate the review and the work you're doing on your website. Looks like another Switch game I'm going to have to add.

Thanks. Being able to write again has really helped my mental health. Even just the reviews themselves.

Nice review (and site).

I've never played any picross type games before. Would you say that would matter with this game?

In my review I said it would have been nice to skip the tutorial, but it works really well for introducing new players. You'll soon pick up the basic rules of Picross and the patterns that matter.

eg:

On a 10x10 grid if you get a row or column marked 5,4 there is only one pattern it will fit. Then you work around those.

I've not played a Picross game before but the positive press MbN is getting has piqued my interest. It looks like Sudoku and I don't really like Sodoku. Is it like Sodoku?

No.

It’s similar in that it’s a logic puzzle, but it’s quite different in execution.

Fuck! This is amazing! Had given up hope it would ever be released.

All we need now is the original Nidhogg and it’ll be my perfect local multiplayer console.

Shit! I’ve bugged Mr Spragg to port that on Twitter in the past! I think lots of people have.

He posted here as @Adman back when it first came out.

another good looking multiplayer game, Baron Fur Is Gonna Fly, reminds me of an old Amiga game I used to play with my sister called Bip - we used it to decide who did washing up or assigned chores as a high stakes best of 3 playoff

doesn't look worth £18 unless you regularly have large gatherings and lots of joy cons, so another for the dekudeals wishlist

Celeste and Towerfall are both heavily discounted. The latter is down to about 4 quid on the RSA eshop. What's it like for gaming noobs, as playing it with the missus and our non-gaming mates is probably the only time I'd ever play it?

And if you haven't got Celeste yet give yourself a short sharp slap and buy it immediately.
