Most Disappointing Game of the Year
Z1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
"Disappointed in the sense that I didn't love it as much as almost everyone else has or as much as I thought I would. I still  played it for over 70 hours and really enjoyed traversing the world and the shrines but there was just something that stopped me from really loving it, partly it was the weapon breaking system which I found annoying (would have much preferred a dark souls style system).

Honourable mentions to Nier Automata, Prey, The Surge and Horizon zero dawn but I just haven't played enough of them to include them. Rime is very close to the top as is Cuphead.

Zelda at the top seems like a no brainer to me. It's so simple, so matter of fact in what it does, but it never stops being amazing. It never stops delighting or charming you. It never stops entertaining you or just plain engrossing you. Over three hundred hours my son and I out into it and still haven't done everything. It's the most incredible single player time sink I've ever known and it still delights me nearly a year on. A true milestone in game design and development that runs on a Wii U!

A note on results:

If any games got the same score in the voting, then the one which got the most total votes of the two will rank higher, or if that is the same, then the the one with the most higher ranked votes.

For the single vote categories, if there is a tie then the entry that was the last to be voted for to reach its current score will be ranked lower, I.e. If its rival was holding a higher ranking longer.

It's the same as the Rllmuk top 100 method: if two games score the same, then the one that was voted for more times beats the one that was a pick for less people.

To be honest this happened in the list probably only a couple of times at lower scores so it's not going to make a huge difference.

I always opt for the opposite logic (a game that matters more to fewer people > a game that matters less to more people), and obviously anybody who takes a different approach to me must be wrong ;)
