I’ve watched the film now and so felt like giving the review a go. I’m glad I waited as there’s way more footage in here than I’d seen in trailers. No he’s not screechy or whiny :P but I can’t say I liked his style either, he just kind of says stuff in a random order in that ‘not wanting to offend anyone go up at the end of each sentence’ way. I thought he was wrong about the romance, pretty much the best scene (and the worst) in the movie came about cos of that

At the end of the day movie reviews are just opinions and not FACTS which people sometimes forget.

All reviews are, which makes everybody who demands "objective reviews" look very silly indeed

That's not actually ever been the issue here

The initial problem was linking to someone loads of people had never heard of rather than a more high-profile dare I say reliable source

My problem now that I felt safe to watch this YouTuber is he's really not very good

I am fine with a reviewer being enteraining or informative, he's neither

Linkster my reply wasn't  intended as being negative to you're reply.  At the end of the day the only opinion that matters to me is my own.

My wife dragged me to Mary Queen of Scots, when I didn't want to* so I'm dragging her to this as a quid pro quo. She's going to hate it :D

* Nothing against historical dramas in general, just thought this looked dull (and I was right)

The linkster and kerraig seal of disapproval is usually a good sign.

I was talking about Mary Queen of Scots. Alita is nonsense but I liked it

"Felt safe"?!? Its a video, click on it and watch for two seconds to see what you think. I can't believe the hysteria about someone posting a link to a review without what? Writing a little paragraph about who made the video? Every time you post one? Rather than people just watching it or not like autonomous humans?

Felt safe from spoilers as I hadn't seen the film.

Also asking "is this reviewer any good" isn't what I would call hysteria.

The fact someone actually liked his post when he completely misunderstood the point being made says a lot about certain folk

Just got back from this. I have to say, I really enjoyed it! Objectively it ain't great by any stretch (the dialogue is bafflingly pants, and there was very little subtlety or sense of human frailty) but it was good cyberpunk.

To both our astonishment, Mrs. Treb enjoyed it as well, despite her being so PO'ed at being dragged to it that we had a barny on the way there :D

Did she think it was better than Mary Queen of Dross?

It is also, whatever its flaws, presumably not entirely centred around the vapid regurgitation of 1980s pop culture. Unless they've taken some particularly wild liberties with the source material.

Me and the current MrsT have just got back.  We both loved it.  Fantastic visuals and cracking heart.  Granted the dialogue is a bit clunky but we found it was well worth a couple of hours

Thought it was really good. Felt condensed in places but moved really quickly. Great animation, motion capture and performances.

This one might "do an Aquaman" and be relatively critic-proof.

Also, its got a female lead who's not overly sexualised, and that's still a relative rarity.
