Bayonetta 3 - Announced for Switch

"Bayonetta 3 also occasionally puts you in the shoes of Viola, who wields a katana and shares Bayonetta’s Witch Time slo-mo ability, although Viola triggers it through parries rather than dodges."

Nothing that we didn't already know. I just hope there are different tiers of parry, from basic blocking all the way up to same-frame pure parries/just defends. Please GOD make this be a sign of a Parry-Offset. Bayonetta 1 offset shenanigans don't go that far, as that would make the accessory item that makes parrying possible far too OP. If parries are a part of the regular move set this gives me hope of a parry-offset system which means combos can flow throughout simultaneous attempts at defence, exactly like Dodge-Offset works.

I'm trying to set my expectations to MGR, rather than Bayonetta 1. Although if the above works out it could be one of the very few components required to transcend the gameplay of the first game.

My wife bought me the dual cart with 1 and 2. This thread has reminded me that I've hardly touched them.

Time to rectify this. I started the first this morning and have this for to help get the most from 2 (cheap on eBay and mint!).

I bought the double pack ages ago, isn’t the first one just a download code?

People complaining on resetera that the framerate isn't stable etc. Hello? Have you played a platinum game before? They are never stable. Looking at DF review it seems framerates fluctuate around mid 40's to mid 50's. Rarely hits 60 but who knows maybe a patch will improve things.

It’s been a fantastic year for Switch exclusives hasn’t it, I think there is just Pokémon left now on the schedule for 2022, is that right?

River City Girls 2 as well. But yeah, except or Pokémon, that's it for big Switch titles this year.

Early next year we have Fire Emblem Engage, Octopath Traveler II, and Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star to look forward to :)

Wouldn't recommend that one though. If you're after a fun fishing game on the Switch, Fishing Star: World Tour really is the only decent option.

Have you played it already?  It has only been out a day.

Personally I enjoyed the earlier game, but this one looks better.

River City Girls 2 looks good, although it's not a Switch exclusive.

Was thinking off the first one. Didn't really like that one tbh. Felt too much like those overly colourful ticket arcade games you tend to find in arcades these day.

Was hoping for a Sega Bass Fishing experience when I bought it, but Fishing Star: World Tour came much closer in delivering that.

Oh well at least they are addressing it, I’ve registered my interest.

One thing I think they could do with limited releases or special editions is offer them first to online sub members. Not sure how people feel about that? but even if they just offered them early doors pre-orders before making it more widely available, it would help I think.

So far it feels a bit like how you'd expect Scalebound in a Bayonetta dressing. Demon Slave mode is the big focus here, as Bayonetta's standard toolkit by itself feels like it's been severely limited, so if you want to play this game like a traditional Bayonetta game it's probably not going to work. I'm trying to pulse in and out of it but that's not really working at all due to excessive recovery, the game wants you fully committed to that mode - then you maybe break free and complement that with a slight peppering of traditional combos to get the bar back up again to repeat. The system as a whole doesn't feel very free-form.

I'm really not sure what to make of it just yet. My favourite part so far has been the practice screen where I can actually get a chance at playing around with standard combos, working out what works, and what doesn't. I have to take my head away from playing as Bayonetta and instead concentrate on charging up Demons to play as those instead.

The lock-on has been acting really strange, too. It seems to automatically target for you, instead of being a manual switch.
