Ninja Doctor

Gameboy classic mini

Recommended Posts

It's what I was hoping for. Game Boy is an icon. I wouldn't want them to go smaller than a GB Pocket, though.

Needless to say, backlight or GTFO. HDMI output would be nice too.

The GB Mini wishlist I posted in the Snes mini thread in June:

Spoiler

Alleyway

Balloon Kid

Castlevania: The Adventure

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong Land

Final Fantasy Adventure

Gargoyle's Quest

Harvest Moon

Kid Dracula

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters

Kirby's Dream Land

Mario's Picross

Mole Mania

Pokemon Yellow

Revenge of the 'Gator

Super Mario Land

Super Mario Land 2

Tetris

Wario Land

Wario Land 2

Wave Race

And some GB Colour to make it up to 30:

Dragon Warrior Monsters

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages

Mario Golf

Monkey Puncher

Pokémon Crystal

Super Mario Bros DX

Wario Land 3

Make that happen, Nintendo, and I'll buy for a (relatively) high price.

No Metal Gear?  :(

Revenge of the Gator was my Pinball game  preference - then Pokemon Pinball later on.

Metal Gear can get on the list, never got around to trying that.

meh

I’m with you there. I never liked the Gameboy even back in the day. Tetris, Link’s Awakening, Pokemon and then a whole load of meh. The GBC was a step in the right direction but I doubt that it has aged well. The GBA would be great but we already had a mini of those and it was too small.

Mercenary Force

Amazing Penguin

Avenging Spirit

Balloon Fight GB (the colourised, slightly enhanced Balloon Kid)

Toki Tori

Wario Land 1, 2 and 3

Shantae

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters

Motocross Maniacs 1 & 2

Chalvo 55 Super Puzzle Action

Super Mario Land 1 & 2

Metal Gear Solid

Daedalean Opus

Trip World

Tetris / Tetris DX

Quarth

Parodius Da!

Metroid II - Return of Samus

Donkey Kong '94

Magical Chase

Elevator Action EX

Gargoyles Quest

Heiankyo Alien

Kid Dracula

I think these are some pretty fine games. A bunch of them are knock out masterpieces. All of them however can be emulated perfectly via several methods on a regular 2DS - which for my money no closed fake OG Game Boy is going to compete with unless it costs under £25.

Would love this.

Link's Awakening

Donkey Kong '94

Wario Land

Super Mario Land

Tetris

For the Frog the Bell Tolls

Belmont's Revenge

Mario's Picross

CatTrap

R.C. Pro-AM

...for me all legitimately hold up today. Not much else I think does for me (I'm not partial to Pokemon, Kirby, Final Fantasy, and really dislike the feel of Super Mario Land 2), but would be happy to pay just for those.

If Nintendo make decent backlit screens for these at the correct resolution (or with correct scaling) I can see quite a few of them ending up in modded original Game Boys.

No kirby's pinball land? That was the tits.

I'd prefer a gameboy maxi rather than a mini. 4-5 inch screen, backlight, great battery life, I'd definitely buy one. If it had the suspend and resume of the 3ds and switch, it was something you could just pick up when you had a couple of minutes.

The 2d games from the gameboy era were much better suited to being on a handheld.

What's with the ifgo tag? Google isn't helping

I'm frikkin getting one

If the SNES mini is anything people  less interested about the gaming side of these things and more interested in collecting, fetishising them and using them to amass a great digital library that they’ll barely play.

There is 20 classics on the thing but barely any talk of the actual games.

Batman (Sunsoft) was a great game. The soundtrack is still excellent.

Spoiler

I'd probably buy it, especially as my 8yr old son has asked about it several times.

I can see the appeal in this, just something a bit different.

Keep it super slim, without the need for AA batteries and cartridges, could it be half as thin?

Reminds me of that Super Retro Boy by RetroBit, which was due by now.

A check on their Twitter feed confirms that it wont be out this year:

GBA is the sweet spot. Who really wants to play original Gameboy games (apart from Tetris)?

Well, if you're including GBC then the two best Zelda games.

I absolutely adore SML2. It's cute, short and imaginative - perfect for the handhelds of the day. Plus it paved the way for Wario Land, for which we should all be thankful.

I did assume that perhaps it would be a portable machine but perhaps it could in fact be a standalone like the nesc and snesc? Just plug in hdmi and go.

It would make more sense to be released as a portable machine with a backlight with the option of plugging in external joypads for use on hdmi. I am pretty sure they could offer a system like this for less than 70 quid. Even if you have to buy your own joypads or re use the snesc ones etc
