Snowfall - The crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles during the beginning of the 1980s. [better than Breaking Bad]

I'm surprised there isn't  a thread about this wonderful show. If you liked GTA San Andreas and Boyz n the hood, then this is the show for you!

Set in 1983 Los Angeles, the series revolves around the first crack epidemic and its impact on the culture of the city. The series follows the stories of several characters whose lives are doomed to intersect: 19-year-old drug dealer Franklin Saint, Mexican luchador Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata, CIA operative Teddy McDonald, and Lucia Villanueva, the daughter of a Mexican crime boss.

I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but trust me this show is good.

It's on FX in the US, but my Google search just now hasn't come up with a UK service showing it. First series is still running in US, maybe someone will announce something when it's done.

A second run has also been green-lit.

I started watching but didn't get through the first episode, on such high praise, I'll give it another go.

It starts off kinda generic, and the first time I watched it I quit half way through the first episode. Then one evening when I was bored, I resumed watching and got hooked.

I’m following this, latest episode was varied enough in location and events that for the first time the three story structure really seemed to work very well. Either I’m warming to the characters or they were just written a little bit more likeable in this one. Hanging in there to see where it goes, watching The Duece after tho is next level shit.

Loved the character/story crossover with

Spoiler

The Bear saving Franklin from the stomper gang, looking forward to some more connected episodes. Also Franklin’s uncle is a great character who is being underused. After the crash in the desert I’ve even warmed to the CIA guy despite the overacting.

Hes excellent. Question is, will they end up as rivals? And what about Avi Drexler as Franklin grows stronger?

I think this is really good, really really good.

I advise everyone to watch it, it's well shot, well acted and the storyline is tight. The subject matter is fascinating, the time period interesting and the three main players are great characters.

Anyone else notice how the title screen seems to be getting less powdery and more cracked? Dunno if it was just me... :)

good to see the positive vibes here - I've got this stacked up on my sky box ready for a binge watch (my preferred method now for anything other than a huge series like GoT with spoilers everywhere)

We just did this over the past few days and it’s excellent, defi one of the best things I’ve watched this year and really hope it’s got another season sorted!
