Finished S3 last night... as with all of them it has a few hokey moments - and the kids bits can sometimes be a bit meh - but overall I really enjoyed it again and put it firmly above S2 quality wise.

I'm basically game for section where Johnny Lawrence is the focus, I just think they've done really well with that character arc and made him somehow vulnerable, short-tempered, sensitive, funny, stupid and also fundamentally still a bit of a prick. The mix is weirdly likeable though.

The Kreese origins were good too, and I felt we finally got a bit of pay off from that whole setup towards the end.

I also like how they continually poke at Daniel being equally in the wrong throughout (and literally just say it outright in the final episode).

Also - as partly mentioned above - I'm amazed at how the cast of Karate Kid seem to have all aged so well...

Martin Kove (John Breese) - 74

Ralph Macchio (Daniel La Russo) - 59

Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue) - 57

William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) - 55

Bring on S4!

Machhio is definitely wearing a really bad wig but has a baby face so can get away with it.

Zabka is looking very good for 54 and kept himself in shape, as did Kove who carries off being a Karate sensei really well in his fight scenes with little old man movement!

That's because it's not him doing it.

Hopefully the next season will be all out now they have that Netflix money! 1hr full length or longer seasons please!

The show has really blown up and deserves it. Probably my most fav show in recent years.

The show really knows how to hit you in the feels. Loved the Japan eps, and yeah, they did go to Okinawa for those shots!

Everything but this please :) I really like the sub-30 min average running time as I find I can usually fit one in when I'm in the mood regardless of my schedule. Hour long things always get backed up for months until I have the time to watch them. More episodes would be good though.

Alternatively, 20 eps of 30 Min.

Again, the cat set up in the last ep was just amazing. I watched it again and it’s not even a cat, you can tell it’s someone just making cat noises!

It's supposed to be someone from Cobra Kai making cat noises.

Japan, with lots of familiar characters

Were amazing in particular, I was a bit drunk but I cried at one point.

Was this on the letter reading part?

Just finished S3 this evening too, will spoiler it in case anything slips through

Spoiler

This season was such a nostalgia fest it was great, they really pulled out all the stops and did it all in a way that didn’t feel tacked on for the sake of it.

Highlight of the Okinawa Kid was Chozen’s “HONK!!!!!” to Daniel, that made me spit out my coffee a little bit with laughter.

The cheese factor is definitely on the mature end of the spectrum but the show pulls it off with ease. Johnny continues to amaze with his modernisation programme and Eagle Fang was just amazing. You really have to leave reality and common sense at the door, such as the snake at the dealership.

Final episode had all the right payoffs, Ali coming back to set things straight, both dojo’s joining up. Great song choice for the final scene too.

I hope they draw it all to a close with season 4 though, looks like they have set themselves up for a nice, natural end point with the tournament being the expected final setting.

I could easily rewatch all of this, that was absolutely amazing! Most seasons in TV shows will just close one thread of story and leave you hanging - this just delivers on everything and progresses to new territory where you have no idea what's going to happen.

Love it!

It's probably the most watchable show I've ever seen. I mean I can put it on and it brings the same sort of enjoyment as a favourite song, it's just... comforting, spending time in this world, with these characters, witnessing their triumphs and challenges.

Something I don't think gets enough praise is the soundtrack, be it the pop tunes or the score, everything is pitched just right to draw the best out of the moment.

Delighted to see the character of Terry Silver return, I think they've set him up well by telling the Kreese Vietnam backstory and the bond they share. Whilst I'm hoping we get some shades of the classic moustache twirling villain, I'm hoping they defy a few expectations with season 4. I wouldn't want the next season to be 9 episodes of antagonism neatly tied up by a competition win in season 10. Everything I've seen tells me the writers and braver than that. I'd love to see things take an unexpected turn, particularly in the character development of Kresse.

Just finished s3 after was watching the first one out of curiosity and that a friend said it was good . I was pretty skeptical.

I was wrong. It’s just the best thing .

Who knew I would want Johnny Lawrence to be my best friend

I wonder whether they will go into The Next Karate Kid territory? I've never watched that, but I read the plot synopsis and it sounds quite different to the stuff with Ralph Macchio in it.

It would be stupid but I hope they do bring in the girl from the Next Karate Kid, just to keep the fan service level high.
