Have You All Lost Your Minds?

I'm surprised it's as popular as it is but even with the nostalgia factor what competition does it have, no one makes these kinds of games anymore. Nintendo have been doing it for years I'm surprised it's taken Activision so long to cash in.

The 3 originals are all in the top 15 best selling PlayStation games of all-time, if a modern well done remake of all 3 had flopped hard on the most popular current gaming system, that would have been more surprising. Never played them, so can't say if the success is deserved or not.

Yeah I was Desperately hunting these down for streams.  Tried tesco,  asda and sainsburys.  I believe game have it in stock but for 35.

I only ever played the first for a bit but was never a massive fan.

Xbox one getting this collection at Xmas and I think it would do well for the switch..

I never played the original trilogy other than demos, I picked this up for the Mrs as she loved them (she's 32 , so would have been between 11-15 when they first came out)

I've been playing the first one. It's a pretty good game , it's taught me some new swear words anyway. Usually an assortment of the following:

FUCKING

ORANGE

PRICK

...CUNT.

THAT'S BULLSHIT

THAT'S BOLLOCKS

THAT'S A BIT RACIST

90'S COLLISION DETECTION...ASSSSS!

WHY DID THAT PLATFORM BREAK IMMEDIATELY WHAT IS THIS

GAME OVER? FUCK YOU

RIPPER ROO...TWAT

Great fun, first proper challenging, sweaty-palms game I've played in a good while.

I find some of the reactions to this a bit baffling. The Crash games are pretty good and sold very well back in the day.

It's not really far away from Donkey Kong Country Returns, which sold 6.5 million copies mostly at full price based on a similar nostalgia play. No-one seemed that shocked that DKCR sold well. Of course, DKCR was a new game - but, on the other hand, this isn't a full-price release, has way more content, and none of the Crash games are anywhere near as difficult as DKCR.

Is this really that surprising? It's a well done remaster of 3 good games with a lower than normal RRP.

What I find more surprising are the number of people making snarky comments about it.

It's the first game I ever played and basically what got me into gaming in the first place, I was genuinely considering buying a PS4 for it at one point too, until i learnt it's highly likely there'll be an xbox port...and I'm not buying a console for one game.

I'll admit I'm pretty surprised at just how popular this release is, but I always thought the original games were well thought of? So bit baffling to see people acting as if they were considered on the level of Bubsy or Gex.

I especially likes Scott running into the thread to sneer at people buying a nostalgia release when he'd inject himself with hepatitis if the syringe had pixel art of Mario on it.

As a fan of pick up and play gaming I approve of Crash selling well. I've played them all before and I think they are quite good. Same goes for the original Spyro trilogy.

I much preferred Spyro for some reason.  Crash just rubbed me up the wrong way.  Maybe because I thought the publisher was trying to make him across as this cool animal with attitude, like a bad Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. Compared to Mario the platforming just didn't feel as natural .  I didn't get on with it at all.

I'd be up for a Spyro revival.

It was probably ok but it just wasn't a patch on anything Nintendo. IN MY OPINION before someone has an aneurism

Surely OP should've titled the thread 'Are you all N.Sane?'

12 years I've been on here. 12 years and you couldn't even refer to me by name. 12 years... all for naught.

Fuck this place. I'm out.

Crash sold well but then it was very well produced, looked great and had very little competition on the wildly successful PS1 - it was still a pretty average trial and error based platformer. To out it in perspective it came out in '96, same year as Mario64. If nothing else I hope this demonstrates that there is a market for platformers as, outside Nintendo, there's been a real paucity of decent platformers for years if not decades now. Ori, perhaps and stuff like Shadow Complex and Mark of the Ninja although that's more Metriovania than platformer. Otherwise it's Indie stuff like N+ and Meatboy. Wish bigger studios still make great platformers these day, there seems to be a market for them.

I know so many people that have said Crash Bandicoot was their first gaming experience so I'm not surprised to see this do so well.

I am surprised that so many of those people weren't instantly put off gaming due to their first gaming experiences being Crash Fucking Bandicoot.

No that's a fact mate, plain and simple. No one can argue any of these games are better than Mario 64 now can they.

For people around their mid 20s these games are a dose of mega nostalgia, probably among the first games they loved. It's confusing to the rest of us who remember the games being a bit average, for sure.

I want the Croc remakes.
