With the new metro line going in, that pavillion will likely become busier although guess dropping 300AED on a game isn't exactly an option for casual shopping. Ah, I've walked past that store when going to PickFrames! Never actually been in. Have a few things to frame after pay day so will drop in and see what price they're selling God of War at. Been back a couple of years now, sadly none of the bargains persisted. You used to be able to find shitloads of retro stuff for cheap but now anything 'retro' automatically means $$$$. 35 minutes ago, mrben09 said: Way back when (2003 -2007) I used to frequent the Geekay in Deira City Centre. Used to be normal prices or cheaper back then . Picked up my first DS months before UK release for about launch price. Got a Famicom anniversary GBASP from there as well at below online. And when the DC was dead they were practically giving away JAP/US titles. Carrefour next door however, used to sell snide GBA 151 in 1's etc. I also got a dodgy Advance wars from there as well. Worse than Karama ! Carrefour barely do anything like that now, like @glb said they have some bargain bucket stuff but no real gems or shady stuff. (wouldn't blame you if you didn't, Goodfellas is smokey AF) It's a shame the arcade in Hub Zero is (was?) so out the way. And expensive. Better location, with a diner vibe, or something like Salt burger and that could have been quite a cool place. SNES Mini still hasn't arrived, which is good, gives me longer to think up an excuse to the missus as to why I bought one when I already have a RetroPie... maybe I'll just go with the, 'awww, look at the tiny SNES!' and say it was 50% off (without quoting what the 100% price was)

Tell her that it includes 2 controllers that would set you back a cool £25 quid each if they were even on the market.

S’alright, quite a mix. Hub Zero is down in City Walk. Or at least it was, not been in there for a while. There’s a gaming zone including about 20 retro full-sized arcade cabinets. The opposite of a SNES Mini I guess, just to stay on topic.
Bluejam
Arise! Er, guys, have i borked my snes mini? I was trying to add some games to it via Hakchi (for the first time) following a You tube (Yeah, i know, YARRR is bad) but i shouldnt have done it when the house was empty rather than the kids shouting at each other playing fortnite distacting me. Basically, ive reset it back to default and all the original games appear. Great, but none of them boot up. It comes up with a C7 error. Any idea guys? Mr Tiddles
Most probably referencing a module via command line that isn't installed. I had the same when doing my own.
Bluejam
ta, ooer, what is this boost fx command line witchcraft you speak of. I was hoping it was a case of a few clicks to get all that snes loveliness
Mr Tiddles
It overclocks the Super FX emulation speed, giving a faster framerate (and game) in SFX games. Starfox runs smoother and plays faster, and is also harder. I like it a lot.
stefcha
Holy shit, when did that option get added?!
Mr Tiddles
It's been in hackchi for ages, 2.20 or something if not further back. I use 2 starfox roms, one normal, one with boost applied. Also dont forget the essential removal of blur filter but with scanlines.
christaylor
Am finally getting round to adding some extra roms onto my mini and have found this guide: https://snesclassicmods.com/how-to-add-more-games-to-snes-classic-mini/ It almost seems too simple, does this look like it covers everything? (only interested in adding some more snes games, not bothered about other emus)

Nope, using a virtual machine or parallels are the only way. I did it via using a VM, but I use vms all the time for work so it might not be as simple for you (I don’t know your tech background).
Eighthours
No N64 Classic Mini this year, then? We’re a couple of weeks on from when the SNES Mini was announced last year. (Although the NES one was announced on 14 July 2016, so there is still hope...)

I'd imagine that they are focusing on getting the nes mini's out the door now. Wonder if they will skip the 64 and go to gamecube which could be an easier sell? Alex W.
GameCube emulation is probably a bit beyond what the cheap little SoC in these boxes can do, and you'd need a lot more flash storage in there which would bump up the price. I think N64 is going to be the practical limit for a few years.
the_debaser
N64 emulation is shit on PCs. I can’t imagine them releasing a mini N64 unless they actually create one with all the same innards.

nakamura
And on Wii U the N64 games I've played are brilliant. Entirely possible.
Yobo Ahoy
As much as I love the N64, visually I don't think the games will have the same day-glo nostalgia value to your everyday punter (maybe Mario and Wave Race aside). Everything else - despite how well they may play - is affected by muddiness and blurriness. Also there is a much smaller library and some of the better games will likely be missing due to rights issues (Rare, 007). They could comfortably reach 20 games but probably with a bit of filler (Kirby 64, all 3 Mario Party games, New Tetris etc). I would bloody love to have a go on a brand new controller again though
Fry Crayola
As they move through the generations I can see the number of bundled games getting smaller, as arcade pick up and go titles give way to more sprawling adventures. An N64 Mini could get away with as little as a dozen games, and any hypothetical GC Mini could be fewer still. A little box that could play Mario Sunshine, F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime 1&2 and Wind Waker would be a treat indeed. I mean, if you ignore that the GC is already a dinky little box that plays all those.

Protocol Penguin
I really don't think they'll ever make N64 or GameCube minis. The nostalgia element just isn't there to the same extent it is for the NES and Super NES, doubtfully more so in Nintendo's native market. Both would be more expensive to manufacture than either the NES or Super NES minis as well, with more complicated controllers needed. (Don't get me wrong, I'd really like an N64 mini, as I'd love to be able to play N64 games without suffering the N64's blur-o-vision... Just don't see it as feasible, or something that Nintendo would make. Would be lacking in as many recognisable games without Rare as well.)
