What games are coming out for Xbox and PlayStation? (I’ve just checked and I can find Forespoken in Jan on PS, and then FFVII part 2 later on, Forza on Xbox some time in Spring)

Steam Deck on hold btw :( I need to make a choice between that and PSVR2, mainly because I barely use all the consoles I already own, and my Switch backlog alone is massive, oh and also my wife.

btw one of the third party games is Octopath Traveller 2, should look great on the OLED ;)

Also! Fitness Boxing Fist of The North Star is out too, I think in March :omg:

Has she tried intermittent fasting?

I'm kinda with this opinion. You'll get WAY more use out of the Deck than PSVR 2

It’s also cheaper, I just don’t have a VR option at the moment and don’t want to miss out. I will no doubt end up with both anyway at some point 😬

PlayStation: Forspoken, Spider-Man 2, Horizon Call of the Mountain, Resident Evil 4 remake, Horizon Burning Shores (dlc admittedly), Dark Pictures Switchback.

Arguably you could add the VR updates to RE8 and GT7, too. All These hitting first half of ‘23 bar Spider-Man (which doesn’t have a confirmed release date but can’t see it happening before Autumn)

Xbox Series: Starfield, Redfall, Forza, Stalker 2, Planet of Lana. I think only the first 2 are confirmed for first half of ‘23. Latter 2 are not first party but Xbox console exclusives.

So, there’s quite a lot.

Yeah all in all I’m looking at Switch heavily for the first 6 months, then exclusively BOTW2 for the rest of the year ;)

Is RE4 PS exclusive? I didn’t realise that.

I thought it was but wiki says it’s Xbox too. Whoops.

I might have just taken that from the PSVR2 exclusive content on the Sony release.

All this exclusive talk is piffle. If you have the hardware, a game's a game, no matter where else it gets a release.

I’m fortunate/committed/greedy/stupid enough to have all platforms (assuming you count a steam deck as a PC) so inclined to agree.

I suspect platform agnostics may not.

That’s far to mo reasoned and not pedantic enough for this kind of talk :quote:

Honestly Stanley, you should really get both a Deck and a PSVR2 because 1)YOLO and 2)you deserve to be happy. My own massive wife never even noticed I got a Deck, didn't try to hide it or anything, but as a handheld it just doesn't stand out. You can totally get away with this.

It’s really very simple.

Use one of those websites that send emails that look like they’ve come from any email address you type in. Use ‘gabe.newall@valvesoftware.com’

copy this into the message content field

”Dear Stanley,

Congratulations on winning our steam deck competition, we’ll be sending your new >insert steam deck size chose  here< gb model in the coming weeks to

>put your address here<

All of us at Valve home you enjoy your new machine!

Regards,

Big Gabe”

Load up a pre pay credit card with cash that you’ve withdrawn. Buy the steamdeck with the pre pay credit card.

Tell your wife you took cash out to fix the car - which you’ll tell her broke down and was fixed the same day - as the mechanic offered a discount for cash. She will congratulate you on saving some money and getting the car fixed so quickly!

Wait to receive your steam deck. Burn the invoice paper that comes with it detailing payment before your wife sees it.

Next time you want to buy something in a more overt manner and she isn’t keen, remind her that you saved the family some cash when you got the car fixed.

Enjoy your steam deck. Pray your car doesn’t break down within a year.

Man, imagine popping onto the forum after a few days off and seeing that there’s 2 new pages worth of talk on the Metroid Prime 4 thread, getting all excited and then finding all this.

That's me. I was angry, now I am vaguely amused.

PayPal Credit is great for making sneaky purchases your wife doesn’t need to know about.

I could probably get away with a Steam Deck and she’d never notice, presuming I was playing a Switch or Atari Lynx or something! Only a PS5 would get noticed, mainly due to the fact it’s massive and would stick out like a sore thumb in our livingroom.

@Stanley note that a Steam Deck can emulate Metroid Prime at 4k60 wide-screen with gyro controls

You know you need that

I was watching videos last night about emulation, it looks mightily impressive. Have you played it with that method?

I haven't yet, but it's high up on my list! It's just with the Deck -even taking into account that I already had a Series X, PS5, and Switch - there's just so much brilliant stuff to check out. Not just all the pc games going back decades but as you say the emulation is fantastic. Not just because of how well it runs, but also how brilliant it is having it all on a handheld. I've been playing PS2 games lately and it's absolutely flawless.

Get a Deck!

I know man. I was watching a video by a guy on IGN, and he was saying that he’s not much of a PC gamer, favouring consoles, particularly handhelds, and these days he views gaming a bit like books - like you should just be able to pick it without any fuss, and that really struck a chord with me. I’m always on my Switch even though I too have a Series X, PS5, an OLED and surround system. I have the full theatre gaming set up but there’s just no fuss with the Switch. So the thought of that kind of thing but with limitless possibilities really. I wouldn’t even be playing all the latest and greatest PC games, it’s all the other stuff, indies and older games, that interest me. Argh

Could I use Game Pass with it easily? I don’t mean Xcloud, is there a Game Pass app?

Sorry, I should get a ban warning for constantly bumping this thread. I apologise to anyone hoping for MP4 news
