Well,

I knew it was going to be a depressing series but wow that was a horrible end for Lori

:(

You know how, at a certain point, actors with very dramatic pedigrees tend to make something 'that the kids can go and see'?

Maybe, at some point, we'll get that from David Simon. Although the 'and the world of shit just goes on' well is as full as it's ever been.

..Sadly based on the fate of many pornstars from that era, no doubt.

I’ll miss this show, it was certainly immersive  Now it’s over, I’m weirdly nostalgic for sleaze-ridden NYC.

I love this type of show, where the pace is laid back (and when something happens, it hits harder), the world is full of detail and the performances are, for the most part, spot on.

Only unsatisfying bit - where is our man Larry Brown? What happened there?

He was conspicuous by his absence.

Because of the time passed, and the fact that he isn't mentioned as a star in porn, I think we just assume he died on the way.

Even if it was a scheduling conflict, feels like they could have either made reference to his stardom, or feed into storylines by having him be the victim of a hate crime, or AIDS.

I took my time waiting to watch the finale as I didn’t want it to be over, and it didn’t disappoint.

I need something else to fill that slot in my viewing now.

I've been anxiously waiting for it to appear on Now TV - looks like it's finally arrived. Looking forward to getting stuck in.

I thought the final season of this was magnificent. All three seasons were quite the journey but they tied it all up perfectly.

Is the whole of S3 on Nowtv at the mo?

I presume so. It’s all there on my Sky box in the ‘box sets’ section.

Yeah, I just finished it this evening. Lovely ending to an excellent last season.

Spoiler

Poor Rudy, though it did always feel inevitable that the world's most cuddly mob boss would end up that way.

Loved all of this, thought it was all excellent. I was hit pretty hard by...

Spoiler

...Lori's suicide. Obviously it didn't come out of nowhere, but in that scene it kind of did. The way she put her coke away and gave you that little sliver of hope.. then bang. There's something about characters where not only their deaths are super tragic, but there whole lives were too. It reminded me a lot of Sarah Lynn's death in Bojack. Maybe not all that similar, but they hit me in a similar way. That feeling that at every step in their lives the people around them and society in general let them down.. right up until the end. It's been a couple of weeks now and I'm still thinking about it.

(warning: contains spoilers for Bojack as well)
