Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Recommended Posts

Is it fairly heavy on the strategy from the beginning or it is OK for people new to the genre? I had a little dabble with Advance Wars a few months ago and started to get the hang of it (after years of trying), so I really fancy this.

This is great so far, done about 6 battles. Didn't get a perfect in the first battle where you have to get to the exit so need to redo that, any idea how to replay a level?

Really surprised at how fun the map is to navigate.

It introduces all the mechanics extremely gradually. They know there will be young kids playing this too so it pretty much introduces one mechanic per battle and sets the difficulty extremely low at first. Hoping the addition of an optional easy mode means they won't be too scared of introducing genuine challenge later on.

I'm still pretty early on but it's lovely so far. The exploration is simple but satisfying. Even very early on there are whole optional areas to explore which you can just run past if you want.

Thanks all, sounds perfect for me :)

Advance Wars started out slow, but ramped up incredibly quickly and I lost interest. AW2 was much better in that regard. I love the idea of strategy games, I'm just not very good at them

Same here, really.

But I thought if I really don't like it, I'll probably be able to flog it for a decent price to some unsuspecting parents as it's got Mario on it...

When you finish the first 'world' it unlocks the replay feature.

Oh, don't worry about that.

Yeah I can already feel it ramping up in difficulty and I haven't left the first world yet. Not lost a team member yet but was slightly worried a couple of times. As with X-Com it can be easy to get complacent, totally overlook an enemy move and then get hit three times in a row.

In handheld mode it just looks functional really - to be fair there's lots of stuff though and the levels you can explore are massive and seemless. I'm enjoying it, it's not blown me away yet but I'm still scratching the surface.

Still, it's cheered me up on a thoroughly shit weekend.

I love the music, it's pure old-school Rare. Has Viva Piñata in particular written all over it, with a dash of Banjo. I was pretty disappointed with what Grant Kirkhope did for Yooka-Laylee but it sounds like he was saving his best stuff for this.

I'm getting battered on World 2.

Escort missions!

It's actually a lot more fun if you have to take a couple of goes at a battle.

Yep, I've actually restarted a couple of battles because I've hit upon an idea for a more efficient strategy (usually a neat combination of two abilities) part way through and wanted to try it out.

Finished World 1. Only got a fair rating for the boss but it was the boss that took this from a 7.5 or 8 to a 9 for me.

Ubisoft are good at this Nintendo game lark. The humour is on point and the music is perfect.

Really wish my copy had arrived in time for the bank holiday weekend.  To those that have already got it, did you all order with Simply Games?

Mine arrived early from shopto (and it's great!)

good to see the positive vibes towards this.

I just checked and apparently its a very small download, only 2gb (I know 'only' but that is quite small still compared to PS4 or Xbox titles, Forza 7 weighs in over 100gb).

I just love the idea of having all these Nintendo games (I know this is Ubi but its Mario) on a single SD card - that coupled with Everybody Golf arriving early means I may dive in day 1 for this now.

Seems file size is now a determining factor in my buying choices !

Just did the first Mid Boss, scraped through with just Mario left and finished the spotty pants wearing chomping mutant off with a hero sight kill. Then unlocked a whole load of new stuff.

This is so joyful and fun and much more suited to mobile play than any other Switch game.

I ordered with Simply Games, had the Friday dispatch email but didn't get it, because Royal Mail are crap here.

I am massively jelly of everyone who's getting to play this at the moment. If I get it I know it's going to throw off my work and study stuff so I've going to have to get it around the same time Mario Odyssey comes out.
