Just watched the Pacquiao v Barrera rematch. It was much more competitive than most people expected and MAB gave a good account of himself in his last fight. The bloke has been a pleasure to watch all these years and it's a shame to see him gone. One of the most talented fighters of his generation as well as a true pro. I'm glad he didn't go out on his back like most thought he would. Great fight.

I'm gutted Barrera has retired now. He's my favourite boxer. Never expected him to beat Pacman but as you say at least he ended the match on his feet.

It's been a bad year for my favourite boxers...maybe I should stop rooting for the old guys :-S

We could be in for a late start if they've sold it to a US network. I'll have to look this up but I'll be surprised if HBO isn't involved. If you've subscribed to Setanta then the fight will be free as part of your subscription, if you haven't then it'll be a pay per view event. Probably weighing in at £17.95 or thereabouts. I'll find out the time it starts and get back to you.

Edit: Tickets are still available. The show starts at 7Pm meaning Joe probably won't be out until around 9:30pm - 10pm.

The time of it is fine by me. I just don't want to pay £30 for Setanta Sports (pay £10 activation, £10 for first month, give notice I want to cancel, pay £10 for second month).

Wish I was going, though

I've got Setanta for the boxing and footy anyway so I'm sweet. Why don't you just go to the fight? You can still get tickets for around £50 and it'll be fucking amazing. The atmosphere will be brilliant and you'll get a chance to see Calzaghe in what will be one of his last fights. He's getting on a bit in boxer's terms now and what with his hands seemingly being made of glass, we're not going to get many more fights out of him.

I just can't spare the money. The entry ticket is only a fraction of what will be spent. If I still lived in Cardiff it would be a different matter.

But everything you say is absolutely correct.

Yeah, tough break. If you can't get it on the telly I may have another way for you to see it...

PM'd.

So, short of actually going to it, what's the best way to watch the Calzaghe fight then? I don't have Setanta and don't fancy messing around with activation fees and all that. Is it available on PPV at all? I couldn't see any mention of it when I Googled and searched the Sky Guide...

Setanta have an offer where you get the first three months for £5 a month. You would incur an activation fee of £9.99 so the first month is £15 which is what Sky charge for their Box Office fights anyway. They also have the Cotto fight on the week after and you could catch some Premier League football too. You do have to give 30 days notice for cancellation.
