Khan looked like an old man.  He maybe looked ok in the second round, but he had nothing after the third.  That’s the last time he’ll fight.

When was his last fight before tonight ? Was it 2019 ? That’s a long time out of the ring…

@Jammy  yep. Lost to Bud Crawford in spring 2019, then had a glorified exhibition bout against career Super Featherweight Billy Dib in Saudi a couple of months later which he won easily and apparently got paid £6m+ for.

Just too long out of serious competition for me without a couple of tune-ups. Just watched his post-fight interview and his chest and shoulders were covered in bruises, not to mention his face. A really stark reminder of how tough this sport is, especially at 35.

Khan was pretty honest in his post-fight interview. The fact he’s saying he doesn’t enjoy fighting like he did and is leaning towards retiring is the smartest decision he can make.

He’s won titles at world level, and made a fortune in the process. No need to risk his well-being; go enjoy a long life and silk pyjamas.

Honest?

He said after the fight he doesn't feel the love for the sport.

A few weeks ago he said he has reignited his love for the sport and feels 25 not 35.

Hmm...maybe.

But you can hype up fights by many means but not with a comment like that.

If he had won he would be saying he loves the sport. He lost so isn't. He isn't the brightest of guys and is only saying that because he lost.

It must be pretty shit being Khan, knowing you have world class speed, footwork and boxing skill but the slightest tickle near your head and you're heading to the floor, it's pretty much like the death stars exhaust ports but they're 2 miles wide rather than just 2 metres.

I was wondering how he never got found out when he was much younger, but then remembered he fought at lightweight for ages which is a stone lighter. Presumably there’s a jump in punching power between the weights, plus I guess he fought with a headguard as an amateur.

He never had a great chin and there was warning signs early on. Getting knocked down in an ABA final and then by light hitting featherweight Willie Limond in an early bout, set of alot of alarm bells.

He still carved out a very good career though, even if it never reached the heights people hoped. He didn't just beat Brits and European level guys. Wins over Maidana, Alexander, Mallignaggi, Collazo, Judah etc are all good wins over world class belt holder type guys. Which is what Khan was tbh, he was never going to be THE guy in a division but good enough to win a belt. Tbh thats way better than 99% of British boxers ever achieve. He has an estimated worth of £30 million too, so I doubt its "pretty shit being Khan".

Was in the hydro tonight (now on the way home) said to the wife..."that's a fucking travesty"

Had to deal with 4 fucking idiot drunkards calling me and my wife all kinds of shit.

Cue me:

1. Listen lads...geez a break.

2. Sorry, what...my wife has a brain tumour, don't fucking dare....

3. Grow up.

4. Two options. 1. We are leaving. 2. I'm going to drop each of you on yer arse......

5. Some young skinny guy pushed my partner to get to me, I threw a George foreman heavy bag esque Zaire hook.  Boy flew back.

6. Couple of the young laddies said sorry. I said sorry. Things calmed down. We got off train in Hamilton.

7. They were at the train station going home with us. I was scared I was going to get stabbed.

8. 2 of them came and apologised. They knew who I was. Which was weird.

9.Got home safe. Now I'm suicidal because I'm depressed as hell and why people are like this.

I hate idiotic fans.

The main thing, you and your wife got home safe. People are dickheads after a few jars (and the rest), and it’s just unfortunate you both got caught up in it. They’d have tried it on with someone else if you weren’t there.

Haven’t been to the boxing for years simply because the crowd can often be a shitshow. Loads of wannabes on beak looking for a row. Too old for that shit.
