Had Corrogate said motivational edge I'd agree, because we saw it proven by Fury's slo-mo gut. Fury was clearly the most likely to have the mental edge going into it, but his lack of prep almost cost him.

Fury would've ended it much sooner had he been fitter. He knew Wilder was on fumes but didn't risk it until the end was in sight. He didn't carry Wilder in spite, as Ali once did Patterson, but because it was the most sensible thing. Unlike Wilder at 238, which on his legs was madness.

 

I think Uysk's good enough to outbox Fury, but unlikely to avoid Fury's tactics of leaning on him. Any extra weight would just hinder his ability to escape, while doing nothing to effectively bridge the gap in clinches. And I think Joyce could handle himself in that regard, with a great chin and engine to work Fury hard, but losing by UD because he can't match Fury's movement.

 

Joshua's still a relevant fight for me, even if he loses to Usyk again. And that's because I think he'd be fired up for the first time in years, and big enough to come in at 245 and not get pushed around. The last time we saw real venom from AJ was against Whyte over five years ago, and the thing that Klitschko, Takam, Parker, Povetkin, Ruiz and Usyk have in common is that they showed respect.

 

Fury'd trashtalk AJ like there's no tomorrow. Likewise, Fury-Whyte'd be a fiery affair, so let's have it!

I'd be surprised to see Fury - Wilder 4.  I can't find the interview, but I'm sure I saw some Top Rank (Fury's promotors) talking down the idea a week or two ago.  The PPV numbers for the trilogy fight weren't great and given that Fury is clearly the better fighter I'm not sure how many people would shell out for another fight. 

 

Personally I'd go Fury - Whyte in the UK in a stadium in the spring.  It gives him a fight back here to satisfy UK fans, he'll win easily and it means that the AJ fight can go overseas for a huge purse.

Yeah, technically It's not a steroid, but it is considered a performance enhancing drug and can give you many advantages, specifically for endurance, hence why it's banned in most competitive sports. Canelo got caught ahead of his fight with GGG and was banned for it. It does make sense, especially as this was the beginning of Canelo moving up in weight. 

 

Eddy Reynoso's camp does seem to have a slight issue with PED's when you consider that at least four of his fighters (Maybe unfair to list Nery in there) have failed drug tests. But then, that's boxing. Fury gets given a free pass for failing both a VADA and UKAD test (At the same time that Hughie Fury also failed) and was issued a back dated ban that was quickly forgotten about because of his mental health issues and the conflation with his missed test a year later which resulted in the controversy. And of course Whyte has also been banned for PEDs. Boxing is sadly filled with PEDs and part of the issue is that there are few ramifications for getting caught. The fact that someone like Miller is still allowed to fight is ridiculous. 

 

With regards to Canelo, It's an incredible accomplishment to become undisputed champ and especially so considering he's basically done it in a single year. Definitely Hall of Fame worthy at this point in his career. it also shows you just how good GGG was, considering there's a ten year age gap between them and Golovkin was already past his prime the first time they fought.

Kid Galahad absolutely sparked out.  Dunno what happened there, he missed weight initially, had to try again and made it but was it a bad camp? Looked like a routine night’s work for 95% of the fight, then got caught with a bomb at the end of the fifth, never recovered and was sparked by the first punch thrown in the 6th.

I think he just got complacent against someone he was expected to beat easily and was beating easily, till he walked into that huge punch at the end of the 5th.

 

Martinez is old but still dangerous. Reminds me of Whyte-Povitkin 1. Pretty sure they will run this back as well.

Huge upset last night. I really thought Lopez would walk through Kambosos Jr in four rounds. Kambosos was fantastic and so disciplined throughout the fight. Lopez looked underprepared and complacent at times and the corner work from his father was atrocious. 

 

I'm a big fan of Lopez but he really didn't cover himself in glory last night after the fight. And what a truly terrible year for him after the Loma win. He'll move up now, but he won't get the Taylor fight. 

 

This "New Four Kings" stuff is starting to sound a bit ridiculous now isn't it?

Yeah.   I followed the build up a bit, Teo seems to lead a very turbulent life outside of the ring and he's just had a kid (like two weeks ago) so maybe this loss is going to be a good thing for him because it's a huge wake up call.   He's got all the talent to be a dominant champion but he's now fighting at a level where he can't win on talent alone, application and preparation need to be there too.   The post fight interview was cringe as fuck, it's definitely put him down in the opinion of pretty much everybody who saw it (he was being booed by the crowd in his home town!) and I'm sure he'll wake up in the morning regretting that.  Moving up might be a good idea, being more active is definitely going to be a good idea and maybe he should cut ties with his father too.  I'm just not sure that last one will happen.

Yeah, I can't see him cutting ties with his father. In fairness, the preparation and game plan for Loma was pretty much faultless (Although I still believe Loma would win the rematch) so credit has to go to his dad for that too. But it just looked like Lopez might have started to believe his own hype a bit. He wasn't using his footwork, his range and timing was a bit off and he fought like it would be easy. No adjustments really made.

 

As you said, he's an elite level talent and if he stays focused, he can bounce back and be very effective. I don't think he beats Taylor though. 

 

135 just got very interesting though. If Haney wins, I guess that Kambosos Jr fight is the obvious fight to make and maybe winner fights Loma if he comes through Commey.

Brook reminding Khan that he knows what it’s like to be sparked out was cold though. Then the sad music kicks in :lol:

Agreed, I think Khan is the better boxer, and I don’t know how much either of them have left at 35. With the big ‘OFF’ button on Khan’s chin though, Brook probably only needs to land one good punch. Very tricky to predict.
